Smotrycz, Christian, and Brundidge Transferring

  • Wow. Was not expecting to see this. Especially Smotrycz. Brundidge and Christian were more understandable.

  • Wow did not see this coming. I am guessing Smot and Brundidge were not happy about playing time.

  • Really surprised about Smot as he was supposed to start next year. Maybe he knew/was told that GR3 and McGary will take away his minutes...

    This one hurts

  • Wondering if this puts us in the mix for Ziegler.

  • Wow, that's rough. Hope we've been monitoring some other quality 2012 players to bring on board. Disappointed to see Smotrycz and Brundidge leaving. I expected Smotrycz to start and though Brundidge would give it more of a go. He must really not see himself getting future playing time. Well, hope McGary, Stauskas, and Robinson are all ready and raring to go next year.

  • PG depth is my only worry now.

Colton, and Carlton were always a threat.

Didn't see Smot leaving, but he probably was upset playing as a center.

Good luck to these guys though.

Doubtful. Zeigler can't shoot and already turned us down for CMU once. I highly doubt Michigan wants him.

I am higher on Stauskas running the point than i was Carlton. I think Stauskas will do fine spelling Burke for short spells next year.

  • Wow, we're gonna miss Smot's outside shooting. He was developing nicely offensively, too. This is rough.

Whereever Carlton goes, he has potential to be a good player good. When he saw action we all saw glimpses of it.

Christian had game, but never seemed to look comfortable. Like Carlton, with a bit more PT somewhere else, I think he'll develop into a solid player.

I am pretty sure we were his second choice.

Smotz leaving hurts. I didn't like his attitude on the court, always seemed to be pouting and had what seemed like a me first attitude. Kid was talented and had some potential with his size though.

Brundridge was still all ??? at this point. If Staukas can come in and run the point 5-10 minutes a game, we will be fine.

    Christian was/is a non-factor.

Best of luck to all 3 of these kids.

  • Sooooooo, whats this do with scholarship numbers? Its kinda late to get in on 2012 recruits right?

Well now we can go after some more 2013 recruits.

yeah...Smot's was going to get tons of minutes next year. I hope we can rope some last minute 2012s in to PG.

Don't quote me, but I think we'll likely take at least 1 more in 2012 (10 scholarship players, so 3 spots for this class, 0 for the following class w/ A. Hatch included).

    Beilein will find someone.

We have been actively recruiting a guard by the name of Amadeo Della Valle and he has trimmed his list to 5 and Michigan is in it. Coach B will be at his game in Nevada on Thursday to watch him play.

Looking at the basketball page, only 6-5 guard Amadeo Della-Valle (Findlay Prep, NV) is listed as having interest. As Maize&Blue stated, we're one of his final 5.

We're poised to go further into the tourney next year than we ever have. I don't think Beilein wants to gamble with the possibilities of fatigue and injury issues (in the late season with only 10 scholarship players on roster).

Right now, it looks like we can expect to hear about the likes of: Della-Valle, Ziegler, a European player, and/or one of Beilein's diamond-in-the-rough types joining the class of 2012.

Amedeo Della Valle has lived in the United States for less than a year, but thats been plenty long enough for big time college coaches to take note of the 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard who currently plays at Findlay Prep in

Yeh I am aware we cam in second. Just now with our roster I don't think we would want Zeigler. Hardaway, GR3, Irvin all play exact same position.

Smot hurts for sure. But Biefedlt (sp?) was always getting high praises. Plus Smot was a liability on defense.

Brundride didn't show much in his time, and wasn't a great shooter. I'm sure we can handle his departure as long as Trey stays next year (i'm positive he will).

Christian left because he knew he wasn't seeing the floor. Morgan, McGary, Biefeldt, Horford all would see time over him.

I think there is a chance at Della-Valle, and with offers/interest from Arizona, Gonzaga, Ohio State, and Cal, he seems to be a solid prospect.

I don't see them adding a late minute guy again (Christian 2 years ago, Biefeldt last year) just because if they don't project the kid to play, tying up a scholarship doesn't seem as beneficial as going harder after a kid like Bo Zeigler in 2013-2014.

Trey Zeigler would be a good pickup if the staff thinks they could lose Hardaway, McGary, and Burke after next year, at which point Zeigler would be able to play.

Why wouldn't we want Zeigler? You can put 2 of those guys on the floor at the same time at the 2 and the 3. Not to mention GR3 is probably going to see some time at the 4. Zeigler would give us nice depth at the 2 and 3 with Hardaway, Robinson and Irvin. Not to mention the possibility of Hardaway going pro early which means Zeigler might not even be eligible to play while Hardaway was here.

Doubtful Tim leaves early. His stock is what it is.

Zeigler can't shoot, just don't think he is what we need in this offense.

Take out Cal. Texas AM is in his final 5 with the other 3 you mentioned and Michigan.

Everyone was saying the same thing about Darius Morris at this time last year.

I would take Zeigler if he wanted to come to Michigan.

I have seen Ziegler play at Central. He is ok but i think he has asthma which forces him to sit every so often and use his inhaler. He is a bit lazy with out the ball. Maybe it was the system or the crap player's around him that didnt make me feel impressed. He is decent shooter and can get to the rim.
