Shane Morris on the 2012 class, "We're going to be number one"

  • "We're going to be number one," Morris said. "We should have the number one class in the nation, especially with some commits that we should get soon and the ones we're going to get at the end. There's no reason we shouldn't be number one unless somebody wants to under-rank our players to keep us from the top."

Some good stuff from Shane and on the day overall.

Midwest's best comes out for Adidas Invitational - CBSSports

A late location change turned out to be a good thing for the Adidas Invitational. Originally scheduled to be at the Pontiac Superdome, a switch to Concordia University brought out a picture perfect spring day and several of the nation's top prospects in one of the top Midwest camps all year.

I would think so. Webb also said a week or two ago that he expects a couple commits at the Spring Game, or right after.

It may be an interesting weekend, that is for sure.

I think they might have the highest ranked average for commits, but they probably won't take enough players to be the top ranked class.

No way. They dont have enough spots. They could have the best average, but not the top class. That will be Alabama

  • You guys certainly have a good head start.

Every team in the top 5 last year had at least 2 five star kids. Obviously Morris himself is well on the way to being a 5* by February - anyone else you're recruiting that is going to be a 5*? I know you're in on Cravens, though he should be a tough pull.

I think Dymonte Thomas will be a 5 star, already is on scout.

Way Taco is moving up the rankings I would just laugh so much if he got close.

On Scout we already have 2 or 3 five stars. But here, it's possible that Isaac makes it. Other than that Morris will probably be our only one

    Three: Morris, Thomas, Kugler.

Edit: On Scout, Bosch will be a five-star if he holds his ranking and Deveon Smith would have to move up eight spots for a fifth star.

  • There were a few looks coming from the Michigan commits when a player in an Ohio State sweatshirt walked by during check in early in the day. Morris didn't seem to mind later when the rivalry with the Buckeyes was brought up later however.

"Ohio is definitely building a great recruiting class and that will keep them good," he said. "But I feel like we should beat them four years in a row. I definitely don't plan on losing to Ohio at all."

How ridiculously awesome is this kid

He definitely has the early makings of a great one. I can only imagine how contagious his enthusiasm must be. Awesome for him to be a leader already. GO BLUE!

Go to tBB, he is enemy #1 already for tOSU and MSU fans there.

  • He seems like a personable kid as well, don't think he will get that big head as a star QB. Reminds me of Andrew Luck in that way, he was never full of himself.

Enemy #1 is Denard....he will play vs us and has actually showed he can beat us. Morris is a great prospect no doubt, but we've all seen those wash out at the next level. He has to earn a starting spot first before anyone should really worry.

    You're probably right.

"So you are suggesting he will be an over-rated player, with a piss poor offer list, thats shoots his mouth off twice a day? Wow good luck with that."

I honestly don't understand this. How are people harping on Morris' offer list? The kid has been committed to Michigan since his sophomore year of high school, he's been recruiting for Michigan since then too, and he's as Blue-blooded as they come. Do people really think the 2nd-best rated QB in the nation wouldn't have an elite offer list if he was open to going other places?

Other coaches simply realize that any time or effort they spend on Morris wouldn't do anything, and it would just be a waste of an offer to extend one to him.

  • 1: We have a stud recruit named Taco, how awesome is that?
    2. How exactly does 247 rationalize not having Morrison at 5 stars?
3: It has been widely reported that Morrison was/is heavily involved in recruiting so the "soon to be commits" line holds a fairly substantial amount of potential. Er. I guess I mean that IF someone knows about silent commits it is probably him.
4: I read on an Ohio board what I can only assume was one Bucks fan's dream journal whereby he laid out a plausible path by which Meyer "flips" a certain OH born DB who was rather overlooked prior to Meyer's arrival. Any of you who are fans of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" will understand I am comparing this bit of writing to Charlie's dream journal - which consisted primarily of semi-coherent imagery - and that this Ohian is planning on rooming with Morrison. Hmm.
5: How absurdly stocked are we at offensive line? I mean really. And I am a die hard believer in the idea that winning starts and ends with your O-Line play.

I suggeseted nothing but simply, wait and see with the kid. That can be said bout any kid yet to take a collegiate snap. Maybe he will be great, he has a good start but sometimes stud recruits just fail to make the leap to college football. Happens at all schools.
