  • I've always respected and enjoyed the way Michigan plays football. I just wanted to know your opinion of Auburn's new coordinator. I'm an Auburn Fan that Hates ohio or whatever they call themselves. By the way, urban is a joke.

Solid QB coach, maybe not the best but very good.

  • We'll find out if he can be an effective OC at the BCS level.

He knows that he's essentially auditioning to be Al Borges' successor.

He is a pretty good coach, he helped a lot of Michigan's QBs refine their mechanics.

Great coach of QBs. Hope that he'll be a good OC

  • Much like I think Luke Fickell could be a good coach, I think he was way over his head. I think and I hope I'm wrong, Lefty is the same way. I really wanted him on Michigans staff. I think he could have benefited from more experience, but hey no one thought Harbaugh ould be any good either. Best of Luck to Lefty...a true Michigan Man

    This is incorrect.

    Carr simply didn't like Harbaugh.

Harbaugh's coaching abilities weren't in question. Coaching is in his blood.

I've always been a fan of Lefty since he was a Michigan player, but haven't really been that impressed with him as a coach. He had 4 years to work with Chad Henne as a starter and when Henne was drafted by the Dolphins the first thing Parcells said about him was, 'He could be pretty good in the future, but first we need to teach him how to throw the ball right.' Not exactly a vote of confidence for the QB coaching he got, though could also just have been work ethic. Petrino said similar things about Mallett when he got to Arkansas, but again thats an egomaniac coach and a kid who wasn't the hardest worker in his time at Michigan, so not great data.

He does have serious respect in recruiting QBs though, so Auburn should continue their run of landing good QBs.

Not a fan of the Tuna. I blame him for the mess in Miami right now. And Henne lacks touch. He's like a pitcher who has a blistering fastball but can't throw a breaking ball or a curve to save his life. He didn't get any better when he was with the Dolphins, so I wouldn't put it against Loeffler

I agree with your assessment on Parcells and that Henne has always just relied on throwing the ball hard. I just think Loeffler has gotten a lot of hype and credit without the results to back it up that he's an elite QB coach. He recruited very well and got the guy he wanted basically every year (Matt Gutierrez from De La Salle in Cali was one of the top QBs in the country, if not the top, Henne was a 5*, and Mallet was in the top-2 with Clausen) which is a huge plus. He gets credit for Brady sometimes because he was a GA at the time and worked with him a bit, but none if the other guys he coached went on to great NFL careers. He did make Navarre a serviceable college QB though, so maybe that says a lot about him.

Yeah, you may be onto something regarding Loeffler's reputation as a QB guru. My last post was mainly motivated by my hatred towards the Tuna.

I don't expect you to know the QB coach from when you were 12 years old (Loeffler), but if you aren't gonna Google it and have no clue what the thread is about, you dont need to post in it. I didn't bother posting in that thread you started on tBB about how awesome Justin Bieber is because I had nothing to contribute.
