Saw Andrew Ford tonight live

  • Let me first add that I went with a coach who coached him in a earlier 7 on 7 camp, we both agreed on what we saw tonight, but he saw much more of him in previous games/camps, and loves him as a player.

Based solely on tonight I wouldn't give the guy a d2 scholarship. I got there at the end of the first quarter, and left when his team was losing by 20+ at the end of the 4th.

His coaching is some of the worst I've ever seen at the hs level, holy shit. The other team stacked a heavy formation and ran outside that way every time. No adjustment was made all game by cedar cliff.HE. No moving the lb down for a 4-3 over, no 5-2, no bear, no moving the DE's out to a contain defense.

On offense they didn't run the ball once throughout the 3 quarters I watched, and he threw the ball over 15 yards 1 time which he underthrew a WR on which should have been a td. LOVES. I watched with a players father, and he said Ford is under direction of the coach. If so I feel a lot better. He didn't throw to a 2nd option more than 3 times all game. cc would usually run trips to a side, and you can basically guarantee that's .MICHIGAN. where the ball is going. If he was playing on his own tonight, and making his own decisions I can't see him going bigtime d1 like he wants to.

I didn't get to see his arm strength, and his scrambling/mobility was very mediocre. The opposing team has no D1 talent, and to put it nicely is not very good.

With that said Adam Brennermen was moving pretty good on the sidelines, seems like he's doing good on his recovery which is great.

Any question feel free to ask.

  • Sorry if the spelling isn't that great. I'm getting old, and the GF has me up late.

  • In the game last night, yes. We all know 1 bad game doesn't tell the whole story though.

  • That's too bad. Seems like the kid is all Blue if we offer him, would have been awesome if he was a stud.

Are we taking 2 QB's next year?

Anytime! Wish I had a a more positive report. He def has the talent, but needs better coaching for his senior year.

    I'd guess It's a Michigan-PSU battle.

I'd also put the Fighting Irish in there as well had a visit canceled he just rescheduled. Cedar Cliff/Ford had a good year overall even without Breneman. Didn't see who they played but from what you saw must have had a poor game. Most on our board believe it's a matter if we offer him. His family has season tickets near ours so we've been following Andrew for some time now. Scholarship restrictions will come into play here having offered a 14' qb already if we don't land him we may have the luxury of slow playing Ford.

Penn State 7x National Champs, home of the winningest college football coach to ever grace a sideline.

  • Thanks for the thoughts, J-Wil. There's a poster on our board who questioned his arm strength as well as his mechanics.

PSU fans are clamoring for him to be offered. People have been back and forth on his relationship with PSU. Many assume that he's ours to lose considering his family owns PSU season tickets, relationship with Breneman, grew up rooting for PSU, etc. That said, there's been some rumblings that he's open to anyone.

IMO, it is a bit suspicious that he essentially has no offers. Just have to watch and see how his recruitment develops.

  • This was disappointing to read because it means that his highlight tape (which was impressive) could be fool's gold. Based on highlight tape, Ford seemed like the one who was best suited to run the GCO.

Thank you for sharing this. There's simply no substitute for seeing a player live (preferably against good competition).
