I never called you any names and my problem with your behavior has nothing to do with your opinions. You know that. And people are free to read the thread for themselves (it is locked but hasn't been deleted). Also, I had nothing to do with you being banned (that was done by the mods without my knowledge and before I even created this thread). I created this thread simply to give everyone a heads up who you are. Period. If you are happy with who you are, you should have no problem with this thread. Please feel free to take up your most recent ban with the mods.

Now, in the words of the words of the immortal Darius Morris ... GTF off my board.

    goblue

P.S. I just actually read your post. In it, you highlight problems with me and two mods. A third mod handed you your latest ban. At some point, even you need to recognize that you have a problem. Stop blaming your poor behavior on everyone else.

I just read the thing and you are completely in the wrong. He expressed an opinion that was not trolling, and then you baited and badgered and attacked him until you got a reaction.

And furthermore, it is absolutely no secret that Michigan's program is focusing on Big 10 championships and branding. It works far more to Michigan's favor if the championship is handled like a plus-one between conference champions. The larger the field at the end of the season with a shot at the championship, the less prestigious a conference championship is and the harder it is for teams not in the SEC to win.

Don't you post more often on the RCMB?

yep, I made the jump over to 247 with tRCMB, and I still mainly post there. But I've never been a troll over there or anywhere else, it's just not for me. I don't take the internet too seriously and I stay out of most of the UM threads over there. I mostly just like the OT threads because they're hilarious.

Sorry, I thought you told him we weren't trolling but trying to discuss then said to him " blah blah ... You're the one getting upset " or something similar. It's the second to last page. I won't quote. No big deal to me

I didn't think you were trolling. I felt like MrWoodson took offense to me asking him to stop bickering for some reason. I don't have a problem with him.

You are entitled to your opinion. Of course, that is not what the thread was about. The thread was created by NigelUno to question why Dave Brandon does not favor a playoff over the current bowl system. DWags promptly jumped in and claimed it was because Dave Brandon thinks we would have much more trouble winning a NC under a playoff system and brought up our 1997 title as an example to support his position. Dave Brandon has spoken on the subject many times and has never said anything of the sort. In fact, he has repeatedly given very specific reasons why he favors the current bowl system over a playoff and has never once mentioned the 1997 title or said anything about a playoff making it more difficult for UM to win future titles. If you can find such a statement, please feel free to post it.

Thanks, I have no problems with being disagreed with and proven wrong but I get floored by some who bait and then actually call me a troll. Big m says I have some insights to various things but if I come on here and get posts deleted after mods say "well said" or if I offer an opinion even one agreeing with your ad, and a person has such a vendetta against me I'm attacked at the first post, it's not worth it and it my opinion this board won't grow.

To your point about branding; your ad is doing the right thing for Michigan and in my opinion has balls that others dont. I still agree with him.

If you can find a Dave Brandon statement on the issue that isn't mildly embarrassing or sound like a straight-up lie, I would also like to hear that.

The arguments I have seen him make are:

    1. Alabama's defense is gonna cause injuries to lesser playoff opponents.
    2. Michigan's players really like getting on a plane and going someplace they don't normally go. No explanation on why a playoff system would change that.
    3. Picking four or eight teams would be arbitrary.

Dave Brandon certainly has balls, but I'm not entirely sold on his vision for Michigan athletics.

Just curious, you really believe he would say that if he felt that? Is that what your argument is here? He wouldn't find another way to say that?

Look, it's nor like any of us feel it's impossible for Michigan or a BIG team to go down to the orange or sugar and beat a Bama or LSU, I think he's not saying anything like that. I think he knows a playoff will be a set up for the sec and he's giving them a big eff u. I also wonder if two games were played in January at Lambeau field and soldier field if the sec would say "em, er,em wait a minute". I'd love to see it. I'm not holding my breath.

Sometimes having balls goes farther than vision. Both together are preferable. He's the best ad you've had since Bo

Dave Brandon has given specific reasons why he is not in favor of a playoff over the current bowl system. Many other people - very, very few of whom are B10 ADs - are similarly against a playoff and many have given some of the same reasons as Brandon. The only reason you have a problem with that is it doesn't fit whatever Sparty-centric conspiracy theory you have dreamed up in your head about how CFB and the B10 are run. Some people actually favor the current bowl system. Dave Brandon is one of them. And it has nothing to do with being afraid of the SEC. Get over it.

See, why the "Sparty centric conspiracy" part? Now, I'm going to be the troll because you post stuff like that. I don't follow, but whatever you need to do. I agree with the Michigan A.D., if that bothers you, so be it. I have said I don't think he's "afraid" of the SEC. I think he believes Michigan can beat those schools. My problem is I think that system favors the SEC. Play games up north. Just float that out there. Just say "Soldier Field" in front of the SEC overlords who think they're god's gift. Just get the reaction first. Then we'll all bow down to them, but we'll all be giggling because they'll expose themselves as knowing the whole playing field is tilted towards them. Screw them, they don't control college football anymore than ND does. We're allowing them to, and Brandon expressed that in my opinion.

Dave Brandon brought us Hoke and Under the Lights, I'll take it. His reasons for preferring the BCS were just so bad that I think he is not being entirely forthcoming.

    bkp1883

  • I would have to agree with some of the others. I was on that thread most of this morning and I could not figure out why you (MrWoodson) kept attacking DWags. I thought he was fine. He might not have had the same opinion as you but he was only making conversation. I think you did and are continuing to overreact.

Off topic question. I was in your stadium for two games last year, one the year before. Beautiful stadium. All the money he put into it, top of the line and great atmosphere. However, why didn't someone say, as you were building that thing, "em, hey, I have an idea, why don't we just throw up some permanent lights too"? I mean 300 million and you had to bring lights in for ND? Should have just thrown some up imo.

That was the point of the UTL game, now the lights are permanent.

    A. I certainly don't agree with everything he says or does, but so far he's done a good job overall.

    B. It's not unreasonable to assume that some comments by conference commissioners and ADs right now are being "shaded" for negotiating purposes. For example, no way did Delany expect to get that weird idea of having three semifinals so the B10 and P12 could always play in the Rose Bowl. Likewise, there are several major issues still being debated - whether to limit the four teams to conference champs, how the teams will be selected and where/when the games will be played - and I am sure Brandon is trying to conform his comments to ones that support the B10's current negotiating position. But, personally, he clearly favors the bowl system. He played for Bo in the early 70s and he's a traditionalist. And there's a very good chance that over time a playoff will destroy the bowl system. Some people, including Brandon, do not want that to happen. FWIW, Carr feels that way and Bo probably would too if he were still alive. And it has nothing to do with fear of the SEC.

Sparty centric conspiracy = another way of saying you are looking at the issue from a very non-objective MSU point of view which generally assumes the worst of UM. It was not intended as a slam other than to say you are just looking at the situation with overly green tinted glasses.

As far as the four team playoff is concerned, we don't even know which proposal they are going to adopt yet. Both the B10 and P12 are pushing for the semifinals to be played on campus and for a requirement that all four teams be conference champs. The SEC and B12 are pushing for the opposite and ND is sort of in the middle. Not sure where the ACC is, but it's very possible they all will end up splitting the difference to some degree to get a deal done. That could mean no conference champ requirement but semifinals held on campus. IMO that would be pretty cool and I would support that. But if the end result is to simply hold the semifinals and championship game at the existing major bowl venues, IMO that will suck. So until we know better which playoff proposal we are talking about, I can't say whether I agree with Brandon or not. But my opinion has nothing to do with the SEC.
