Question for Michigan Fans...

  • I am a penn state fan, and everyone else that i know is a michigan fan. Anyways, me and my buddy were talking about the combine coming up and he told me that he thinks that Denard Robinson would run in the 4.3's if he was at the combine this week.

    Just wanted to know what you guys think that Denard's 40 time would/will be.

  • 4.38 in shorts. His acceleration is the most impressive IMO. Would be beat Jeff Demps? No.

  • I have heard that that is a very slow track but I would think he would have to be one of the fastest two or three times.

    His times in HS was a sub 10 sec - 100 meter and approx a 4.28 to 4.32 40 time.

    But if he was in the SEC he would be running a 3.5 - 40 time.

    He ran a 10.44 100m in high school, not sure where you're getting your info. He has never run a sub 10 100 m, thats olympic level track speed. Usain Bolts world record stands at 9.58 for comparisons sake.

    Yeah, I believe this number is accurate. I don't know his fastest forty, but 4.3 should be about right.

  • The SportScience feature ESPN did on Denard a month or two ago put him at 4.37 i think

    He seemed faster to me last year. This year, to me at least, he seemed hesitant to just gun it. Almost indecisive at times picking his blocks, if that is why he stayed healthy im ok with it though

    I think a lot of that was him learning the new offense instead of BEING the offense. While it's true that we still primarily ran a spread this year we still did some different things that he wasn't used to and it looked like he was thinking instead of just reacting and hitting the holes at times. He's still one of the 5 fastest players in the country and he might be the best when making cuts and accelerating.

    Agree with this a lot. I feel like there were about 3-4 plays per game last year where 2010 Denard would have seen the hole and hit it for 20 yards but 2011 Denard either hesitated and only got a small gain because of it or else stubbornly held the ball looking for someone to throw to.

    I think part of the problem was he felt like he HAD to throw the ball a lot more, just to prove to people that he can. I remember him talking a bit about how much he loves playing QB and how that's what he really wants to do in the NFL, which makes me think he put undue pressure on himself to throw and made bad decisions because of it.

    Towards the end of the year though it was really looking like he "got it". He wasn't putting up staggering numbers through the air but he was making good decisions running and passing and it opened up everything else for the team (obviously not counting the Sugar Bowl because Hemingway was the only offensive player that showed up for that game). But then again how much of that had to do with Fitz starting to dominate games and take a ton of pressure off of Denard?
