Priest Willis, anybody?

  • I just noticed Priest Willis is visiting Nebraska for the Michigan game. A couple questions:

    1. Has anyone heard anything Michigan related with him lately? He has always seemed to have some interest, even though we don't seem to have ever been recruiting him hard. I've never heard him say Michigan is a top choice, but he always seems to mention them.

    2. Why haven't we put more effort into him? He's an absolute beast! I think I've heard him elude to wanting to hear more from Michigan. Don't quote me on that.

    3. Could his visit, assuming we win, actually help us and maybe we see him reach out to the coaches for an official for Northwestern or Iowa games?

Maybe it's wishful thinking, I know, but I'm not super confident on our chances with McQuay. And Willis could go CB or safety, just like McQuay. Can you imagine Thomas and Willis on the field together?

    Anybody?

I upvoted you for the simple reason that u just gave me an eyegasm by insinuating a Willis/Thomas defensive backfield.

    That is all.

As long as we land Treadwell, I don't care what they do with the final spot in this class. Green. McQuay. Muhammad. Willis. Edwards. Save it for 2014. They are all excellent options IMO.

Haven't heard of any legitimate mutual interest between Willis and Michigan in awhile now. For whatever reason, it appears that the Wolverines just had several other players higher on the board. We'll definitely let you all know if this changes.

The coaches found corners that they are thrilled to have, Conley specifically seems to be our Willis in terms of size and ability. I think the coaches would prefer a FS/CB hybrid in Mcquay and content with him or bust. As an aside, lets all relax on the beast label, he's strong but not leaps and bounds above other corners I've seen this yr.

  • Willis? Not Happenin...rather have an Elite DL. We already have Richardson, Countess, Dymonte, J Wilson, Conley, J Lewis....that's already a helluva Defensive Backfield. The difference between the SEC and everyone else is the DL. Everyone knows it....so that's what we should be concentrating on the most. OL and DL make everyone else that much better.

  • Let it go dude.... why you care that I like Cravens so much. That kid will be an All American and reminds me of Charles Woodson. So yes, I wanted Cravens like the rest of you but I've moved on. I suggest you do the same

  • I exchanged texts with Willis a few weeks ago and I asked if Michigan was still in the mix for him. His response was, "yes, but I haven't heard anything from them in quite a while. I hope to hear from them again."

Sources close to his recruitment have told me it's mint chocolate chip, but I haven't been able to confirm it with Willis yet. Stay tuned.

agreed, I was really hoping earlier in the process that we would take a full DL in this class, if you can dominate the line of scrimmage you win most of your games and we really need to upgrade the talent and depth of our DL. If we get a DL that can stuff the run and rush the passer without blitzing it makes the jobs of the back 7 much easier and can make for a very dominating defense.
