  • This is a great rundown of all the positive and negative implications of the new playoff system. I don't think the new system is necessarily perfect, but it's definitely a major step in the right direction. It's a shame that it took this long, but it's good to finally make some progress.

    Agreed. I would like to see at least an eight team playoff, four just isn't enough for how big the NCAA is. Definitely headed in the right direction though.

    That'd definitely be ideal. The only thing that worries me is thinking about how long it took just to get this four-team playoff system in place. Adding four more teams might take a long time, unfortunately.

    It sounds the current system will be in place for 12 years, then most of us will be on our death beads before another overhaul is implemented....Im a fan of the 4 team playoff because its infinitely better then the previous format, many more pros than cons....let it play out till the end of the decade and then draw conclusions. The only thing I'm unsure of is the whole selection committee

    lol Yeah, as slow as these people move, there's no telling if/when any further tweaks will be made. I would hope they'd move it to eight teams after a few years if that's the best move, but I wouldn't at all be surprised to see it take much longer.
