Post-Game Thoughts: IUPUI

  • First game of the pre-season NIT just finished.

Michigan looked dominant on offense, shooting 60%, including 62% from 3. We did struggle to hold on to the ball, with 13 turnovers, but the offense looked great overall.

Burke and Robinson led the scoring with 22 and 21 respectively, but we had five in double digits and got minutes from 14 players. Great moments at the end when Akunne and Person nailed great three point shots to ice the game.

Full stats will follow, but what did you guys think? Obviously a very exciting sign of things to come for the Wolverines.

This isn't a stat, but all the dunks help keep the crowd in the game. Last year Michigan's pace was....off-putting at times, and the crowd seemed to be sucked out of the game. I don't think that is as likely to happen this year.

  • Vogrich is the only guy to have a disappointing day, IMO. I love Hardaway this season. Looking at that stat line, it's incredible. He didn't attempt a 3, he's our leading rebounder, and he takes care of the ball (2-1 assist to TO ratio).

Love seeing that growth from him.

  • Have to imagine Vogrich's pt will dwindle as Stauskas gets more comfortable

GRIII is going to be scary good. Outside of a stretch in the 1st half on defense (when they had an 8-0 run or something) I thought we played really well.

The scary thing is this team has so much room for improvement. We still played pretty bad defense in the first half. We were much better in the second half but would love to see a game where we were strong defensively in both halfs. Also, very sloppy with the ball. Too many turnovers.

Can't believe Hardaway only shot the ball 5 times and didn't attempt a 3. The world is going to end. I wouldn't be too worried about Vogrich right now. Him, Stauskas and Spike are depth as far as scoring goes. Getting around 15 pts combined out of those 3 a game is about all this team needs.

This team is so fun to watch. Really can shoot the ball. All the dunks. The Burke move in the open court was sweet. Hardaways coast to coast dunk was amazing. Jordan Morgan's steal and dunk was nice. Horford's dunk was badass.

I literally jumped off my couch and freaked out when Horford did that. Didn't know he was capable if putting the ball on the floor to create space. And you're forgetting Hardaway's coast-to-coast dunk. Very impressive W.
