Post Game Thoughts

  • 1. Denard.... You live by Denard, you die by Denard. Pretty putrid performance by him
    2. Offense moved the ball well, just turnovers really killed quite a few drives.
    3. Nice to see Fitz get some yards in the second half.
    4. Defense played well. I feel much better about the D after tonight than in previous weeks.
    5. B1G championship is still up for grabs

    Anything else?

    Six turnovers is bad mmkay.

  • Still feel like this is a 3 loss team. Should win the Big Ten considering what the Big Ten is. I think @Nebraska and @OSU are the only tough games we have left and I think we win one of those. Then lose in the Rose Bowl to go 10-4. I'm good with that.

We were by far the better team today and killed ourselves.

  • Biggest thing, this changes nothing for the B1G title.

For Michigan to lose by a td while having 6 turnovers is so bizarre. Outside of the turnovers that ND got I don't feel like they were better than us.

  • Agree.
Feel like it was 2nd quarter play calling that killed us, lots of play action on back to back plays.

If we stick with play calling from 2nd half we will be okay until we meet Oregon in Rose Bowl

Oregon in the rose bowl?. Son, they will STEAM ROLL the trojans. Please remember this.

    6. The announcers were extremely biased.
It was unbearable. Especially at the end, when it was ruled a first down. "IT'S A FIRST DOWN!!!!!!" It was like a 4 year old had just met Santa Clause.

    7. Quinton Washington can be good if he can learn to tackle.
How many times did he get in the backfield and whiff?

    8. More Jeremy Gallon
Every time we get him the ball, he makes something happen.

  • I was very disappointed with the coaching tonight.
    1. Borges has no idea how to use Denard. NONE.
    2. Why in the world are we throwing a HB pass on first and goal when your QB is throwing and running great on that very drive. I put some blame on Smith for throwing the ball he could of easily tucked the ball and took the loss, but the play should of never been called.
    3. Why doesn't JT Floyd have safety help when going up against Tyler Eifert espically since Eifert was the only WR on that side of the field.
    4. Hoke should of had the offense in a hurry up the entire last drive instead of hudling up and taking there good ole time.

  • We will finish 10-2 provided Denard doesn't have another game like this one.

You think they make in championship game. FSU winning right now they will get in before Oregon

  • Trying not to get bummed out. However this is the first time that I really question Borges. WTH are we doing having Smith throw in the red zone, for one?

Conf championship is still up for grabs! BUT, this team has some serious, serious issues. Right now, I'm just praying (literally) that we beat MSU...I can't handle a 5th in a row from "those people".

Maybe for much of the game, but in the end when we needed it the most, our offense couldn't get in the end zone, and the defense couldn't get the ball back.

    YuanT

  • should've won that f'n game. ND is not better than UM, made plays when they needed to. The half back toss pass was the dumbest call i've ever seen. We were driving and didn't need it. nice job ND....Denard needs to pull the ball down and run if there is any sign of pressure

The Legends division has a big bow on it for Nebraska. I see their only potential loss being @OSU in conference play which would send them to the title game. Lincoln is a hellish road venue.

IIRC Smith threw for a TD on that play last year at some point.

(not saying it was a smart move, I thought it was ridiculous)

  • 2 turnovers inside the 10 and a missed FG is all that needs to be said... The 2nd drive was beautiful and Denard looked great... I freaked when they tried a gimmicky play... ND was on their heels and it was just a terrible play call... After that, you could tell a loss was coming... Oh well... Good week for a bye and now the Rose Bowl is the only option for this team... I think they respond well... ND is decent but have some glaring weaknesses.... Their OL is not as good as I thought... Defense is solid but the secondary will lose them a game or 2.... QB play is awful.

I agree, they've looked the best so far. But given the way they played against us last year, I'm not chalking that up as a loss yet.

  • 1. Denard was panicky and making bad decisions all night. When he had room and could step up into the pocket he was accurate and solid. When he turned and had guys in his face or was required to make a tough read/play he almost always came on the wrong side.

    2. Borges put Denard (and Vince Smith, for that matter) in position to fail miserably all night long. He added absolutely nothing to the offense with his nonstop play action, and there was simply NO reason to call that HB pass. Sure it may have worked, but the odds seemed far worse than just running the offense that had been successful up to that point.

    3. Devin Gardner has a long way to go still.

    4. Not counting Raymon Taylor (maybe even counting Taylor), the seniors are a liability for this defense. Roh has been nowhere this season. Demens is becoming Ezeh-esque in his indecision. JT Floyd's cockiness took a boost from last year, but it looks like his solid play last year may have been a bit of a mirage. I'll give Campbell a chance until I get a chance to watch the replay, but I'm losing hope he might be something. Even Kovacs seems to be really backsliding.

agreed I want to see Borges explain that one. Most moronic play call ever on that one.

Frank Clark seemed absent as well tonight. The only people making plays are Jake Ryan and Kovacs.

Not sure what you're saying with #4, but Taylor is a sophomore.
