Possibly Good News for Multiple B1G Teams Tomorrow. (Recruiting)

Actually read the article, he was the #1 player because he stayed for the whole 2 days. lol

" Chicago Julian The top prospects in the offensive line and defensive line groups were each very strong and very close in terms of performance, but Cooper gets the nod because stayed for the entire duration of the two-day event. At 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds, Cooper is explosive off the edge and also showed to be stronger than we first saw from him earlier this spring. He knows how to use his hands and his length to beat away blocks from opposing linemen. He stands at four scholarship offers now, but that list will grown."

Staying the whole time might have put him over the edge.. but he was right there with the best of them too..

Clearly they didn't just give it to him because he was the only one that stayed both days

All I saw was "four scholarship offers" and that told me all I needed to hear.

That's nice and all, but you have went from lighting up Michigan oline commits to "but Cooper gets the nod because stayed for the entire duration of the two-day event."

    Congrats on the future commit.

They need to justify their #50 class .... I mean .. they 'coach up' the world! clap

You mock Dantonio's recruiting- but it's similar classes like that, that have beaten UM 4 straight years and won 22 games over the last 2 years, including a Big Ten Title

Not sure what there is to laugh about

Not trying to get in a fight or banned

    GL to UM this season

    cheers

That's faulty logic though. Just because Dantonio has had success with some lower ranked recruits doesn't mean that he can sustain it with lower ranked recruits. Statistically, it is nearly impossible.

That is solid and congrats to that. Let us know when they have a season that gets them in a BCS Bowl though.

So now Wisconsin is proof that MSU will continue to succeed? I'm interested to hear the logic behind that one.

    Wisconsin begs to differ

They haven't sustained it as much as USC, Alabama, LSU, Ohio.
Any ways if you're fine with making the Rose Bowl every once in a while when we go to the NC then you don't have to beleive recruiting rankings matter.

They haven't even made it to the Rose Bowl yet, I wouldn't want to give them too tough of expectations.

    And Iowa, Illinois, Purdue, NW...

All school that rose up to play in a BCS Bowl, something MSU hasn't ever done, only to fall back to being another also ran.

This, they had a nice run under cousins, but in the end it didn't amount to Rose Bowl appearance.

    Never said that..

MSU will never recruit with the likes of those teams you mentioned (and including UM)..

If that means they compete for Rose Bowls semi-regularly- then it is what it is.. not sure any MSU fan thinks they are close to being good enough to compete for a National Title

But even having this convo speaks to how well Dantonio has done to date and the impact he's had on MSU football

And to Never Lose Hoke, "So now Wisconsin is proof that MSU will continue to succeed? "

It's not proof- just showing that a team that doesn't recruit in the top 25 ever can be very good year in and year out and win consistently

Sure- of course there will be opposite ends of the spectrum, but until MSU falls back down like those 4 schools you listed did- shouldn't MSU and Dantonio be given the benefit of the doubt?

  • You see it as a nice run that will end

I see it as the beginning of winning culture at MSU

Who's right? Currently no one- let's see how MSU does over the next 5 years and see where the program stands

As to your last point, I never said it was impossible. Just that, statistically speaking, it is nearly impossible and doesn't happen very often.

You listed one school with average recruiting rankings that had continued success, I listed 4 schools that fell back. You can hope all you want, I will go with the percentages.

Sure- it might not happen often and the %'s certainly don't show that it happens a lot.. but it can be done..

Oregon has success with lower classes until recently, Wisky's been winning consistently for more than a decade with low classes

I have no idea how it'll play out- but I like the direction of MSU football and where it's headed- and that in itself, shows how far this program has come in the last 5 years.. can't wait to see how the next 5 years turn out as well

fair enough, we can't say with certainty that you'll fall back just as you can't say with certainty that you won't. In a few years we will all see how it works out.
