Personally think ND is SCARED!

  • Why would you cancel a big time rivalry and huge revenue series like Michigan and ND? Ill tell you why, because they see UM is on the way up and they know that would more than likely be a loss on their schedule each and every year. Now that they are in the very weak ACC they have a chance to run a weaker schedule and be "pretend" relevant again. I cant stand those greedy two faced no good bastards. ND is not above the college football world and they need to a reality check.

Sorry for the rant but I wish no wins on ND.

ND isn't scared. And they didn't want to do this, but they had little choice. They had to move their non-football sports out of the BE. It would be embarrassing for their "peers" to be UConn, Houston, UCF, Boise, Cincy, etc. And the price was 5 football games a year. It's a relatively modest price considering no respectable conference would take them as a partial member. I actually think it hurts ND long term. The ACC is basketball first, football second. They will never fill their stadiums or have TV ratings like the B10 or SEC. And ND's home schedule just dropped Michigan so they can add Maryland or Duke or Virginia instead. Over time, that has an adverse effect.

    We are scared.

Scared of the cement shoes known as the B1G. Face it B1G football is at Big East levels. Less games against them helps ND SOS and respectability.

Good luck with the SOS boost you are going to get from playing Syracuse, Pitt, Wake, Maryland and the rest every year. The only decent football schools in the ACC are Miami, VaTech and FSU ... and Miami is about to get hammered by the NCAA and VaTech will regress significantly when Beamer retires. You better hope FSU doesn't bolt for the B12 because if they do ND will be the new Boise. You will need to go undefeated every year to get an invite to the dance because your schedule will be a joke.

I find this comment hilarious considering ND's record against the Big East in the past 10 years is only 9-7.

    That's pretty pathetic, ND.

And it wasn't even the "good" BE teams. They weren't playing WVU and Cincy. They were playing Syracuse, Pitt and UConn.

  • Notre Dame never wanted to join the BIG because they would never win the BIG title...period. It took your worst game you could play (turnover wise) and they barely beat you, at home...they wouldn't ever schedule the Bucks, PSU or Wisconsin and now they get to schedule...Duke, NC State, Wake, Virginia....How bad would they get beat if they played FSU and Clemson this year? Funny the ND fan saying how slow the BIG is... they win a few games and all of a sudden they are faster, stronger and better than everyone...they crack me up.

I say good riddance....the fact they think they will expand their recruiting base southward isn't going to be significant... otherwise all the ACC schools wouldn't suck...I live in NC and there are only a few really good prospects a year out of NC and a few out of SC. They already say they are a National program, so it's plain and simple...The ACC bent over and gave in to letting all their other teams compete in the conference and gave up football. Ironicfally, it will benefit the other ACC schools by getting on TV while playing ND because there are very few national broadcast ACC games of the teams not named Miami, FSU or Va Tech..

Clearly the results from the beginning part of this season are indicative of how the B1G will look in 2015 and after.

  • I really do not think they are scared. I think it has to do with their new deal with the ACC. Back when ND was at their prime they used to have some pretty dang hard schedules. Kind of stinks but it might be better for both programs.

Clemson and FSU would win the B10 this year. If ND takes care of business on the field we're in a BCS bowl game. Comparing us to Boise is quite a stretch..

FSU perhaps, but Clempson? Now way Star. FSU is probably really good but we still do not know because they have only played Clempson who has played no one else yet. Let us wait 3 weeks or more before we judge.

  • Like I said in another thread, I think Notre Dame does not want to play Michigan, Miami, and Florida State in any given year.

That's essentially 3 rivalry games. Then there's also a service academy plus the game annual rivalry game with USC.

And in some years, Notre Dame will have to VTech and/or Clemson. That's a daunting schedule bordering on impossible.

I know the B1G is down this year but I doubt either FSU or Clemson could run the table in the B1G. After watching Big Ten football for 30+ years only one thing comes to mind for me. Someway somehow one of the middle of the pack teams will pull a rabbit out of their hat and beat a team they should not even be in the game with. FSU maybe Clemson no way.

I actually would like to see ND get to a good bowl. I grew up hating ND but hating ND has been no fun since they have been down for so long. I think Kelly will bring ND back to being a power. I think that'd be great. Then I could go back to hating you guys and you have a coach that makes ihimself easy to hate. chairshot

I dont see the ACC being all that weak.....VT, FSU, Clemson, GT and Miami are equal if not better then the top 5 teams currently in the B1G. ND will still have a tough schedule each year. I read the ACC determines which 5 teams ND will play in the ACC, and some say that BC will be annual. So they will play atleast every team once every 3 years, and thus play atleast 1 of the above teams once a year, to go along with Stanford, USC, possibly a Michigan State and whatever other games.....I think this all has to do with creating an easier schedule for them, because it becomes counter productive in the loss column to annually have one of the toughest schedules

RIGHT ON BROTHER - YOU SPEAK TRUTH!
After all, a resurgent program should want to ensure they are
playing certain games whereby they can correct a deficit which
is a negative in their view, correct?

With Notre Dame running away from Michigan like girly men, like
they did before, they are joining a league which will dumb them
down like FSU was dumbed down after they joined the ACC!

The B!G may be down, but Michigan will once again have to save
    the B!G's ass!

DUDE, you are similar to Boise. We lost because of misscues and happy feet (not wise throws) A more accute QB would have thrown those balls away and we would have scored the 4 TD's we left on the field, if not more. DUDE we have a real Michigan
OL & DL rising up. Not like your JOKE of an OL and DL. Manti is an incredible athlete, but at Michigan his coaching would have taken him to greater levels of play than he would not have imagined.

You will be playing in a DUMBED down league with little if any competition. Laugh all you want, but a 16 - 23 - 1 record vs Mich shows ND is RUNNING SCARED. FAce the facts, ND is a JOKE! LOSERS!

    Maize N Blue

  • You are all missing the point. In 2015 ND will have three ACC road games. Then either Stanford or USC is a road game, I don't remember which. Then Michigan would be a road game. That makes 5 road games. ND doesn't play 5 road games, no more than MIchigan tries not to..

Besides, no one said it was for good. ND needs to open up flexibility to make the new ACC thing work. Once they have that locked in, Michigan might be looked at to get back on the schedule.

It's nothing to do with being scared, it has to do with the contract. If ND didn't cancel the game prior to this year's game, they were locked into 2015 on the road vs. Michigan. Depending on how the rest of their schedule worked out, they may have had to cancel later and incurred a penalty.

For the ACC to not be declared as weak at a point and time when the B!G appears to be at it's weakest point ever is NOT a true comparison. If we compare the basic overall body of work, body of improvement and body of regression, I would assuredly think that the ACC will continually be seen as a BBall league over football. I live in ACC country and the ACC does not care near for football as they do BBall. It is a different world.

But the B!G will again in 1 or 2 years maybe 3 I expect to be giving the SEC a run for their money. As Michigan recruits and plays well, then the rest of the B!G does better. It is going to be an exciting 3 or 4 years to come!

How many TD's did ND leave on the field last year when they turned it over 5 times, twice in the redzone? Did that make them the better team?

A more accurate QB for them this year hits the wide open #2 on the first play. Hits the TE wide open in the endzone and the game is a rout.

Im sorry you mean those cement shoes that seem to be holding your "explosive" B Kelly offense to dismal numbers. Pretty bad when the best ND team you have fielded in YEARS is having trouble beating a Michigan St team that Boise almost beat. So I think the comparison to Boise St is very valid. Even the big wigs know that ND is not a good football team but they see ND as a cash grab and use you to make big money. I really hope that FSU and Clemson leave the ACC for the Big 12 and leave you with rags in the watered down ACC. ND is a joke and until they man up and actually play by the same set of rules as every other team in the nation they will never have my respect.
