PSU problems

In my opinion though, keeping penn state around would be saying child abuse & molestation is okay.

No it wouldn't. Not at all.

There's no need to punish the new staff and the players for something that a few sick individuals did. Yeah, it's awful and everyone involved should be fired and probably do some jail time, but it would be overkill to kick them out. Almost 0% chance that happens IMO.

  • Too much money involved for them to be booted from the B1G imo

  • I don't think it is fair to boot them from the B1G because of all the people not involved that would get punished as a result of that. That being said, anyone that knew of this has to be gone from the university for it to try and regain any semblance of integrity. And I agree with what someone else said that Joe Pa should have reported it to the police if the AD wasn't going to do anything. Sitting idly by while knowing what went on is just as bad.

I read it somewhere and its a question that should be asked...if Sandusky was caught showering with Joepa's Grandkid...would the reaction have been the same

While I can not say for certain as I am not Joe Pa, I most certainly think the reaction would have been VERY different. (At least I would hope so...)

That's my opinion though. I have zero tolerance whatsoever for this.

I am listening to Michigan grad Art Regner on Detroit Sports Talk WDFN 1130AM right now absolutely ripping penn state. He is saying the B1G should be proactive and kick penn state out of the B1G. And ya know what? I think he is right honestly. Any institution that knows of abusing children like that, and doesn't report that and this doesn't come out in over ten years: does not DESERVE to be in the B1G.

I would refuse to schedule penn state if I were Dave Brandon, if they stay in the conference or not. Protest them being in the league. Paterno's legacy is tarnished forever. The program is tarnished forever. This is horrific and disturbing on so many levels the more I think about it.

It's one thing to play with ineligible players, paying players or taking money. But when someone is abusing children like that. They deserve to be removed from the B1G.

Kick PSU out of the BigTen?

That might be a slight overreaction.

Damn it, I agree with you.

  • PSU might be as bad as the Catholic Church but it's not like the Catholic Church got abolished after their scandals either.

The powers that be at PSU disgraced themselves but with a new leadership team at the school and the football program, there's no reason to believe they can't be a worthy Big Ten member in the future.

    UMSkeletor

  • Kickin them out of the big ten would be wrong. In doing so, you're not punishing the vile people who committed these attrocities, you're punishing the players and future coaches for the wrong doings of others. There will surely be collateral damage but this shouldn't be it. You just can't punish these players for this travesty.

The initial reactions from Spence's camp and family were not good. There's another article floating around that makes things sound better, and we still may have a chance.

That said, I don't see Spence coming to PSU in the end. This was too much of a blow to something Spence's family valued a lot in the university. The situation at UNC seemed to be what led Spence to favor PSU so heavily.
