Anybody watch the Jay Paterno interview on ESPN? I watched a few minutes of it last night, I wanted punch the POS in the throat. He is more concerned about his dad's tarnished image than the little boys that were raped because of his dad's cowardness. Every excuse he makes for his dad being a POS is a slap in the face to the boys that were raped. I hope they take every penny from the Paterno estate.

I didn't watch it, but checked out the thread on tBB and it was brutal. Every PSU fan posting basically said "Jay needs to get off the TV he's making Penn State look horrible."
There is a time to defend your family, and there is a time to just keep your mouth shut.

It was sick to watch. All about the legacy, nothing about the true victims in the tragedy, from what I watched. And from hearing other people sound off, that was the case.
JayPa would be singing a different tune if it was his kid that was raped, as Paterno would have acted differently if Jay was one of the boys raped in the shower.

I have no problem with the NCAA stepping in and if LOIC is found, to hammer PSU.
Those in charge clearly covered up and/or turned a blind eye to children being sodomized. Now, while covering up those children being sodomized didn't give a direct advantage, it sure gave them indirect advantage due to the public outrage that followed.
I equate it to tat-gate. How did players currently on the team receiving tats and selling gold pants give an advantage on the field. Most people stated that it would influence recruiting. As shown last year with the decommits, knowing that children had their ass pounded in the same shower these recruits would use, it had an influence. There is also the fact that the coaches knew about the issues in both cases, and did nothing.
From the top down, this is LOIC in my eyes.

I suppose I can see it both ways. I would argue that they were protecting the university as a whole and their own reputations, rather than just the football program, but because of the prominence of the football program I can undertand your argument.
I guess it comes down to how the NCAA sees it, although, all things equal, I'd rather the NCAA just stay out of it. Don't need the keystone cops making a mockery of all of this.

Did you really just compare this to tat-gate?... And not get criticized by anyone?..
I understand why you might want to take down PSU football, but I think if you read the report you might think otherwise. I read it and I personally think it's just incompetence by 4 leaders. The school deserves to be punished, not just football (by taking out football you'd take out a few other sports as well, and I'm not sure people want that). The DOE, civil suits, etc. will punish the university for years to come.
Still isn't in NCAA territory though. If it was they would have to go back and punish Colorado football and ND for there problems from the past 2 years. (Also, in LOIC, doesn't the university have to lose control? Unfortunately it seems that these 3-4 had complete control of the situation, which is why it is a legal matter.)

I honestly wish that were the case, but I doubt it. The hardcore apologists drive me crazy. They want scientific proofs when there is already an abundance of evidence that most any civil court would obviously deem as proof enough.
People make mistakes, and all of us had made them. However, child rapes is maybe just above genocide in my book. There has to be swift and hard punishment, and Penn State is debating whether to keep a dumb statue up. Are you kidding me?
Part of me also wishes President Mary Sue Coleman, David Brandon and Brady Hoke issue statements condemning Penn State and asking for Penn State's removal from the Big Ten. It actually gets me annoyed that there hasn't been strong statements issued despite the fact that none of them have any affiliation with Penn State other than being employed by a school in the same conference. That's how disgusting this whole tragedy has been.
One thing is for sure is that I will never watch a Penn State game ever again whether or not they play Michigan.

This is actually not happening. It was a stupid report by ESPN. The Board heard the rumor and squashed it. They just said it hasn't been discussed and wouldnt be for a long time. Said they had more pressing matters to deal with in this situation... I also ask that you don't condemn all of us on the actions of a few. prejudice is not a pretty thing
