I think people just need to realize they are entertainers who also happen to talk about sports. The show is entertaining in comparison to other sports shows imo.

I really didn't see how Cuban showed either of them up. If he knew as much about basketball as he would have everyone believe, then why did he let Chandler walk away? His presence kept bigger players from pushing Dirk around. I thought not bringing him back was a pretty dumb move. Now Dirk has no muscle backup and will spend the rest of his career getting pushed around and run out of the playoffs.

Not to mention he tried to act like it was some great coaching strategy that kept Lebron out of the paint in last years finals lol. Riiiiight....

Came across as arrogant and full of himself.

I'm by no means an expert on the cap situation of the Mavs, but my understanding is that they let Chandler walk in order to have as much cap space as possible this summer so they can bring in a top free agent. In essence, they sacrificed their title chances in 2011-12 with the hopes of building a dynasty in 2012-13 and beyond.

  • I really don't even watch basketball, so I'm not trying trying to be a pretend expert here. But from my outsiders POV that seems like flawed logic. You breakup a proven championship team, without ever giving then a chance to repeat, in the hopes of acquiring future players who may or may not sign, and may or may not recreate what the 2011 team was able to.

    A lot of IF's

And I'm pretty certain there's nobody in 2012 free agency that can do what Chandelor does. There's only like 3 or 4 guys on planet earth really.

Only time will tell if the strategy pays off. But Cuban probably figured he had two options: 1) re-sign Chandler, giving the Mavs one more year at serious contention, but possibly limiting their future cap space and thereby hindering their chances to build a consistent contender beyond 2011-12; or 2) let Chandler walk, greatly diminishing the 2011-12 squad's chances of winning it all, but hopefully establishing the cap space to form a consistent contender from 2012-13 and on.

I wouldn't be surprised if the possibility of signing Dwight Howard this summer didn't play into that strategy.

  • Spot on, Todd. Dallas isn't the only team that has unloaded players in an attempt to clear cap space.

Sure, it's supposed to be entertainment. It fails to entertain many, however.

Like him? Or can't stand him?

I personally think this guy has the loudest mouth of any sports analyst out there. He may even bring up some good points, but his delivery makes want to throw a bottle of Jack at the TV. Of course, his loud mouth is probably what got him the job in the first place...

Nails on a chalkboard. Cant stand the loudmouth. Hate how he will over enunciate and stress syllables while he's screaming at someone. Worst guy on TV EVER
