  • Let me be the first to say I love the Honolulu blue and silver!

Saw that Leshoure got suspended two games today. Wonder if Fairley will get any time?

Yea it's done that to a lot of people I'm sure. Still love watching it every Sunday though. Just hoping for no meltdown this year by them lions.

I’m not sure what the precedent for something like this is but I would guess something like 4-6 games, possibly 8 but I don’t think he will get that if ML only got 2.

I’m kind of surprised ML only got 2 games though. I thought RG1 lol was going to lay the hammer down on him. It must be because he’s young/ not an established player yet.

  • Anyone have any predictions or overall thoughts for this season? Here is some of mine, I’m sure I will be mostly wrong though.

    Predictions

    • Record 12-4, with at least one playoff win. Likely W’s (STL, TENN, MINN, SEA, JACK, @ MINN, INDY, ARI). Toss up’s (GB, SF, PHI, CHI, HOU, ATL) Likely L’s (@ GB, @ CHI). The NFC N (with the exception of Minnesota) is going to be brutal this year. The Bear’s and GB are improved teams. Luckily for the Lion’s we should have at least 8 win’s if we win the game’s we “should” win this season. I could see us winning 8 out of the 8 game’s we should win this year (I know stupid prediction) but think we should have no problem with the majority of those teams. ARI scares me a little but that team could be a dumpster fire by that time next year if they don’t have a QB by then. After that I think we spilt with GB, and CHI, and beat HOU and ATL at home.

•Megatron break’s the Madden curse. The guy is the only non-human to ever be on the cover. He will be fine.

•Stafford join’s the class of “Elite NFL QB’s” this year.

•Possible Breakout player’s for 2012. Willie Young, ML and Suh.

WY. I’m not sure he will ever become an every down player for us or for any NFL team but I think WY is poised to have a big year as a pass rush specialist. I think he will get a lot more snap’s this year because of KVB’s age, and the potential hold out of Cliff.

ML. I know we haven’t seen anything from him, and he’s coming back from injury but I liked what I saw at Illinois and I think he will bring some balance to the offense this year once he gets back from suspension. FWIW I think he will be eligible for OROY this year since he didn’t play a down last year. Not saying he has a chance but you never know.

Suh. I know he’s already pretty much a household name (for good and bad reason’s unfortunately) and he’s already has had one very good, and one (2011) solid season. But I think this is going to be the year he lives’ up to his All-Pro and possibly DPOY potential. I know I don’t have many reasons for justifying that thought after his up and down 2011 season and maybe it’s just homer in me but from hearing him in some of the interview’s he has taken, and the fact that Schwartz and GC have said that they’re going to move him around a lot more like they did in 2010 instead of keeping him at LDT for most of the game like they did last year, I think he’s going to have a huge year.

    Some thoughts

    • This might be it for Jahvid. One more concussion and I think he’s done sad smh.

    • Ronelle Lewis and Chris Greenwood are some rookies who intrigue me this year.

Liked RL at OU and I think he will be a force on ST’s this year. He was a good run stopper at OU, and seemed to be getting better as a pass rusher towards the end of the season last year (IIRC 2011 was his first year at DE, I think prior to that he was a SAM LB type at OU which I think is called a WILL in their scheme).

Greenwood the Albion product is a physical specimen who tested off the charts at our pro day. He’s definitely taking a major step up in competition and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s strictly a practice team player this year but out of all the small school guy’s CB’s seem to be the most successful for w/e reason.

    • I think this year we will win at least one playoff game with the possibility of two, which will set us up nicely for the 2013 season which I think will be the year we will make a real run at the SB.

  • 12-4 might be a tad high for us. I'm deathly worried with our secondary we did nothing to address it this year and we lost our best corner. I was hoping we would do what the cowboys did with Claiborne. Were only a piece or two away i feel like. Our passing game should be even better this year with Broyles coming in, it will be tough for defenses to match up with our wr's and if we have any sort of running game it will just open things up for Matthew.

Bill Bentley (third-round pick) has what it takes to start. Losing Wright won't hurt much if Bentley is able to contribute. If healthy, Houston is better than Wright. Plus, Aaron Berry playing in games gives us good depth and he's been coming along nicely as a nickle-back. I don't think we had one game in the second half the season in which we had more than half of our starting secondary in good health. Cutting down on penalties and keeping a healthy secondary will make the Lions a much better team in 2012. Hopefully, Fairley and LeShoure can give us some good play once they're on the field too. My biggest prayer is for less stupid penalties that give teams freebies at the worst possible time. Watching that happen is so frustrating.

there is no way imho that bently plays. we have been grooming alphonso smith and aaron berry for 3 years now for one to take over. hopefully smith finally "gets it". he has the ability to make plays and has a higher upside the berry.
Buy yeah this secondary scares me. I can not believe they didnt address it. That broyles pick still boggles me , and I get the "take the best player available" routine. But it has to come with some level of concern when we have 4 solid receivers on the team and stoval who has been amazing on the scout team and summer camps. we could have drafted better to help cover some holes

I think the Broyles pick was a pick for the future, since I think they’re going to cut Burleson after this season because he’s regressing and they will move Titus to the outside, and have RB play the slot in 2013.

Not sure TY can play on the outside though. I liked him in the slot.

  • I absolutely agree on everything you said. Burlesons days are numbered and I like ty in the a lot as well. But I still think they reached on him. I am not a scout or coach though and I hope I'm wrong. But I can see why they picked him. It's just that stoval is a Calvin clone. I liked what he brought to the table.
But it will have been a vet very smart move if broyles pans out and excels in the return game!

However, I'm not sure they will be using rb's in the slit much.

I don’t think Stoval will ever be anything more than a ST guy. I know people get excited over him because he’s a big and a good athlete but he’s just not a good receiver.

lol RB was for Ryan Broyle’s. I’m lazy. I think in the future they will move Titus’s to the outside and Broyle’s to the slot.

TBH the Broyle’s pick has grown on me a lot. At the time I would of much rather had Konz, Lavonte David, Mike Adam’s, Josh Robinson or Trumanine Johnson. But looking back at it now, it makes since. IMO Broyle’s has potential to be one of the best slot receiver’s in the league and could have a Wes Welker impact on this Offense. Although we had more pressing need’s I think long term Broyle’s has potential to be better than all the players still left on the board at that time with the possible exception of Lavonte David.

  • Oh I should have figured that out ha.

I like David , but essentialially everyone passed on him.

This pick has grown on me also

Leshoure has already received a 2 game suspension. Fairley has delayed his court date which is holding up any sort of punishment from Goodell right now. Goodell has said he might not wait for the case to be resolved before he announces some sort of fine or suspension. I wouldn't be suprised to see a similar 2 game suspension for Fairley.

Stoval is having another great camp. We have receivers ha ha ha, that won't be a problem this year.
