OT: Manti Te'o's girlfriend's death a hoax?

  • MrWoodson said...

I doubt it. I mean, the death of his fake girlfriend didn't seek to affect him in their game against MSU.

No no, I'm talking about the knowledge that news of the hoax was going to eventually go public.

Wolverines1989, agreed that Bama was going to stomp ND anyway. I was pretty certain of that - which is why I scoffed at the articles and dry humping that Pat Forde and Dan Wetzel engaged in.

Smh @ Te'o still claiming he was the victim of a hoax. He clearly doesn't remember all of the details as he is contradicting himself. Eww..

  • I know the answer to all these shenanigans and unbelievable story....Te'o is actually gay, and this was just a facade to cover up his affinity towards men. I mean a girl who you "met online" "dies" and you get all emotional about it in interviews....the word compunction comes to mind right now.

I agree that if you use that as the premise, the holes seem to fill in pretty quickly.

    - His dad is quoted as saying she would fly to Hawaii so he could see her -- If you were trying to hide being gay from your family, having a girlfriend fly somewhere in Hawaii where you'd need to drive to go meet up with her (and never bringing the parents along because it wasn't serious) would be an ideal diversion.
    - Friends wonder why she's never come to South Bend to visit -- Well that's because she was in a car accident and is recovering.. or is undergoing treatment for Leukemia.
    - People getting more and more suspicious of never meeting her -- It's gone too far at this point, your grandmother just died, so why not just lump the two together since you already have tragedy on your mind, say she died, and then be in mourning for awhile so people stop asking questions.

RoboBuckeye pointed out the other obvious ones early in the thread about having excuses for never hooking up with girls on campus, etc, too.

All I can say is that I don't believe for one second a football player who everyone praised for his instincts at the linebacker position was scammed. A natural leader and captain of the Notre Dame football team really fell for an online scam and fell in love with a girl he never met while passing up all the girls on campus likely throwing themselves at his feet? It makes no sense at all. He was also destined for the NFL and had national recognition, so it makes no sense that he'd do it for publicity only because he already had that and the risk/reward wouldn't have been worth it.

  • Based on in depth analysis here is my conclusion:
    1. As a Notre Dame student he cannot tell a lie so his story must be true.
    2. As a Notre Dame student he is highly intelligent...probably a genius...so he couldn't be stupid enough to have fallen for this and having never met "the love of his life" after "knowing" her for four years. Clearly it must be a lie.
    3. Te'o was never really enrolled as a Notre Dame student and the university is in serious violation of NCAA rules. That allows him to both lie and be stupid...maybe a fag too...not that there is anything wrong with that.

While I don't necessarily correlate on field intelligence or instincts with off the field intelligence or instincts (Ray Lewis anyone) but I do agree that a 22 year old living in a highly technological, highly visual world would have numerous opportunities to "see," either through Skype or Facetime, a person they are supposedly dating, let alone in love with. I just can't believe Manti, if his story is to be believed, never asked to "see" her. Just can't believe it.

Dude. Come on. There's no need to use that type of language.

While I'm pretty convinced that this whole charade arose because Te'o is gay, I think it's more of a sad commentary on ND and our society that he couldn't just be open and honest.

You are correct. I will be more politically correct in the future although it is not in my nature.

My statement: This is incredibly embarrassing to talk about, but I have been told by Alabama's offense that Manti Te'o is not real.
