O'Connor dazzles at Michigan camp

Class of 2015 quarterback Michael O'Connor had a nice showing at the Michigan camp yesterday. He already holds four BCS offers.

  • Sounds like he's on the verge of an offer. Will be very interesting to see how this plays out with Jayru Campbell another guy who could warrant an early offer and being in our backyard.

QB recruiting makes me sad. We have the instate kid in Chance Stewart this year and Kizer from Ohio. Don't think we can land both. Then a possible problem in 15 of O'connor and Campbell.

I want Kizer, and if that happens that helps a different B1G with Stewart.

When it comes to O'Conner and Campbell, O'Connor should be a national recruit, and taking Campbell doesn't mean a fellow B1G lucks out and gets a stud QB. O'Connor will have his pick of teams to play for.

I see what you are saying but my thinking is I hate seeing talented in state kids go somewhere other than Michigan.

True but he won't be at the elite level. Just good solid player. I'll take kizer and campbell. Like stated mgoblue, oconnor will be a national recruit and I would love to have him but if I have to pick, ill keep my pipeline kids

That was kind of my point though. If the staff loves O'Connor and he wants to come to Michigan, having to choose between him and Campbell makes me sad.

Why would we have to choose? We don't have to.

Talent-wise, we're getting to an level where we can afford to spend a scholarship on a Long Snapper. Why wouldn't we take both Campbell and O'Connor?

The likelyhood of O'Connor and Campbell committing to the same is school is less than zero. It's not going to happen.

Because I doubt both would come to Michigan in the same class.

Do you honestly think both of those kids would sign with Michigan, with Morris and either Kizer or Stewart already on the team?

USC took 9 running backs who were rated 4* or higher between 2006 and 2009. If you're confident in your abilities, competition shouldn't scare you.

If a QB recruit doesn't want to come here because of competition, then maybe they're not cut out to play quarterback at Michigan.

We'll cross that bridge when we get there. Neither of those players are committed.

It isn't just about competion, it is the reality of seeing the field when established upperclassmen are already in place. Their parents and coaches will tell them that.

It's not fair to compare a QB recruit to a RB. It's no big deal if you use 2 RB in a game and on a regular basis. Very rarely do QB split time and its even rarer for it to be beneficial to the team and players.

Good question. I always think it's better to take more than one QB because that creates good competition and Michigan does not have an overload of QB's. I would take both.
