Northwestern almost pulled a fast one on you...I know I wasn't

  • ready for them to defend the Hail Mary 1 on 1 in man coverage....LOL WTF were they doing??????

I've never in my life seen 16 seconds to go and a team defend a long lob 1 on 1....I spit beer out of my nose laughing....I thought Fitz was a defensive guy?? again....WTF??

You should stop drinking. It wasn't a hail mary. Now why Michigan got one on one coverage deep I don't know but being at the 35 Michigan had time to complete 2 15 to 20 yard passes and try a long field goal for the tie. So it wasn't a hail mary.

Didn't you guys pull off the same thing last year against Wisky?

sure did.....laughed at that coverage as well.....

Ok, it wasn't a "technical" Hail Mary....but it was still a ball thrown up as far as the QB could throw it, bringing into question, how in the hell is there not another player close enough to get to that ball and help break it up?

Don't get me wrong....I don't care that you won, I just for the life of me can't figure out what that defensive thinking was...Or Wisky's last year, you're correct....

It was an awful call that ultimately cost them the game. Good teams capitalize on other teams mistakes. That's winning football. Make our own luck.

Dude, I almost spit blue moon over the t.v.. as well. Weird thing too is that Roundtree had been either making plays downfield or getting tackled before the catch. So its not like he snuck I'm the game and got behind the D. Fitz lost that game for NW.

  • To be honest, look at TAMU today getting caught sleeping on the deep ball twice in the 4th quarter. I don't know what it is, I suspect NW wanted to avoid an easy, quick underneath completion for 15 yards or something and didn't think Gardner could accurately throw it deep.

They will always want this game and of course that play back.

Also, that's not "as far as the QB could throw it." Gardner's got a great arm, he doesn't cap out at 50 yards in the air.

He barely set his feet when he threw that pass

  • Seeing how nearly all of ohio's wins this year were bythismuch I find this thread humorous.

I really wish Penn St. could have pulled off the win against Nebraska, it would be awesome to sneak into the Rose Bowl lol.

I think it was from the 35 wasn't it? I cannot ascertain the info from my brain correctly.

Iowa already beat MSU, time to pray for another ridiculous upset.

I'm not holding my breath for Minnesota.

  • It looked like he threw it about 55-60 yards....the point of the post wasn't how far Gardner can throw the ball...it was the 1 on 1 coverage blunder...

Well they were half right, Gardner's pass was about 2 yard to deep, but it was very lucky the ball got tipped back into Roundtree's hands.

Let's face it. We should have no trouble moving the ball through the air in Columbus no matter who plays QB.

    Passing Defense:
    1. Mchigan
    2. Nebraska
    7. Minnesota
    13. Michigan State
    28. Indiana
    29. Illinois
    34. Wisconsin
    47. Purdue
    50. Iowa
    97. OHIO STATE
    105. Northwestern

Or Roundtree would have continued running and would have jumped to high point the ball if the defender behind him did not interfere with him

You are correct, our pass defense has given up a lot of yards this year, mainly to PASSING teams....now I don't know if I'd put Michigan in that category, especially if DRob is at QB...Gardner is a better passing QB....but DRob doesn't worry me in the sense that he'll sit back there and pick us apart...

Most of the passing that has hurt us has been spread teams that throw the ball quick...that hasn't seemed to be DRob's tendency....but who knows, anything may happen....

As I mentioned to the PSU fans when all they did was throw stats up before our game....our defense has come together since Urban got involved after the Indiana game and it has played pretty well...

Like Woody said once about stats.... "Stats mean nothing, it's like when a man drowns in a creek that is only 3 inches deep on average...."

    RoboBuckeye

  • Here's a good link to show all the stats....if you're into that kind of thing....I went to check on where you ranked in passing offense since you said you'd have no problem throwing against us..

Instead of just pulling the one you like, look at all of them....tOSU doesn't look so bad and rank ahead of UM in a lot of categories....Scoring offense, yards/game, passing offense, and a few defensive categories as well...opponents 3rd and 4th down conversions, opp scoring when in red zone, ...

Not arguing, just went there to see just how bad the Bucks were, and saw quite a few categories that you must not have wanted to list....

Gee, ok...like there is anything that can be done about the schedule played....we can compare common opponents if you like....

Even though Notre Dame is ranked #3, they still haven't proven they deserve it to me....their schedule, while before season started looked good, some of the teams that were supposed to be strong, aren't...they have barely beaten absolutely terrible teams, and you know as well as I do that if DRob doesn't throw 5 INT's you guys win going away....they aren't the 2nd best team you've played this year...

I still think Hoke didn't want DRob getting hurt/taking hits in the Bama game. You guys looked nothing like your offense normally does...DRob could've done what A&M did to them last weekend...It was like Hoke didn't want to chance it...

Okay, but then again I was asking you to back up your stats on the season by comparing out of conference strength.
If you want to use season stats, then why won't actually answer it accordingly?

You were the one that brought it up and mentioned how you you were surprised about the results.

How about comparing Michigan's against OSUs instead of just saying Michigans isn't as good as perception.
    Compare and make the point.

Double Edit: In the past 10 years, Wisconsin has been known to play cream puffs and run up numbers. How would you feel if someone brought up those stats when you were playing Texas and USC out of conference to say your stats aren't as good as theirs?

I never used our losses to USC or Texas as a crutch....it just proved we weren't as good as they were...Texas went on to win the NC that year and we had them beat if not for a dropped 5 yard pass by a TE...but that's football...I didn't complain or say we were better than others based on "who we lost to"...we lost, we weren't good enough....we play whoever is scheduled same as everyone else does...some years the schedule is softer than others...We've got plenty of tough OOC games coming in next 10 years...Home/Home with Va Tech, Oklahoma, UNC, Texas, Oregon, TCU.....

If we lose to any of those I promise I won't use it to prove we're better than Purdue or anyone else...Now if we win, then I can puff out my chest a little, same as if you'd beaten Bama or ND....
