    Pipkins!!!
    Strobel
    Clark
    Gardner(no skinny qb anymore!)
    Hayes (needs that bulk)
    Williams
    Chesson
    Darboh

Overall no one jumps out negatively, except maybe Bryant but his may be due to the injury

MSU isn't a very good football program.. takes year of consistent winning to get to that level. - copemoney 1/22/13

Interesting. I count 65 scholarship players on that roster, which includes the 6 EEs from the 2013 class. If you add the remaining 21 that will enroll in the fall, you get a total of 86 (which is what we all thought). Maybe someone else is leaving and it just hasn't been announced yet. My money was on Hagerup, but it appears that isn't the case. Or I guess one of the incoming could be a grayshirt.

Hoke has stated that he is suspended, not kicked off the team, so you shouldnt be surprised.

Incoming wont grayshirt. What do you think this is, the sec?

  • There is simply no way Bellomy weighs more than Gardner. Maybe he wears unusually small pads and a slim flak jacket, but he looks about 20lbs lighter than his reported weight.

Funchess isn't terribly underweight for a Y tight end. The big thing for him is technique.

There is nothing wrong with grayshirting so long as the player is told when he is offered. We originally offered Jeremy Clark a grayshirt, but then changed the offer later because we really liked him and had room. Hoke knows he has to be at 85 in the fall, which only leaves two possibilities ... either one of the scholarship players currently listed on the roster will not be on scholarship in the fall (i.e. transfer or medical) or one of the incoming players will not be on scholarship in the fall (i.e. grayshirt or doesn't qualify). It's simple math. Without throwing around specific names, there are at least two players currently listed on the roster I can think of who might be leaving the roster. And there are at least two incomings who might have been offered a grayshirt but we just weren't aware of it. Either way, 86 is one too many. One of the 86 will not be on scholarship at UM this fall.

People should freak out to much. They do have another 5 months to add some weight.

I haven't heard of anyone incoming who was offered a greyshirt. As far as I know, all our signees will be expecting a full scholarship. If the staff pulls a Les Miles at this point, I will be extremely disappointed.

You are jumping to conclusions. If someone was offered a grayshirt, you very well might not know it.

We've been receiving conflicting info on him for weeks, which illustrates the point. We don't have perfect information and don't always know exactly what is communicated to every recruit. I trust that Hoke is upfront and honest with every recruit. But that doesn't mean some recruits can't be offered grayshirts without us knowing about it.

Perhaps, but count me as someone who would be skeptical if he haven't heard it. There are so many people covering recruiting right now, and countless interviews done by all these people, and all the insiders that are established, I have a hard time believing we wouldn't know if the staff offered a recruit a greyshirt upfront. Not that it couldn't happen, but it seems highly unlikely. Unless I just missed the news or something and you know something I don't.

LoL...everyone seems to be forgetting that they can still not ask back fifth year players. I still think one or two of them may go.

  • Is Frank Clark planning on moving to SDE? I was kind of hoping he would lose some weight.

There are only two ways you would know. Either the coaching staff told someone or the player told someone. And I can think of multiple reasons why both would choose to withhold that info. But if you prefer to believe you are operating with perfect information, that's your choice.

As it is your choice to prefer believing that the coaches would never do anything ethically wrong like greyshirt a guy after promising him a scholarship.

    Yes. Exactly.

  • Good to see the bulk starting to show up on the lines... Guys seem to be gaining but still would like the majority of the OL north of 300... On the other hand need those OL to be functional at their weight... Not too concerned with the LBs weights... Ross seems to be as aggressive as they come even being so light... Same with Bolden... The increased bulk on the DL should help tie up the OL from getting to the 2nd level so easily... Happy with Funchess' weight... He will be split out more and that is going to be a pain in DCoor's necks.

Didnt say there was anything wrong with grayshirting, but nobody in this class will be grayshirting. Hoke isnt going to pull a schollie qnd switch to a grayshirt at the last minute, that is sec stuff. Somebody will leave the team by then, if nothing else a 5th year wont be coming back.

Agree. And people are also forgetting that some players don't want to return for a fifth year. Some graduating seniors who aren't expected to see much playing time opt to move on and start the next phase of their lives rather than return for another year on the scout team. The decision is not entirely UM's.
