Interesting. I count 65 scholarship players on that roster, which includes the 6 EEs from the 2013 class. If you add the remaining 21 that will enroll in the fall, you get a total of 86 (which is what we all thought). Maybe someone else is leaving and it just hasn't been announced yet. My money was on Hagerup but it appears that isn't the case. Or I guess one of the incoming could be a grayshirt.

There is nothing wrong with grayshirting so long as the player is told when he is offered. We originally offered Jeremy Clark a grayshirt, but then changed the offer later because we really liked him and had room. Hoke knows he has to be at 85 in the fall, which only leaves two possibilities ... either one of the scholarship players currently listed on the roster will not be on scholarship in the fall (i.e. transfer or medical) or one of the incoming players will not be on scholarship in the fall (i.e. grayshirt or doesn't qualify). It's simple math. Without throwing around specific names, there are at least two players currently listed on the roster I can think of who might be leaving the roster. And there are at least two incomings who might have been offered a grayshirt but we just weren't aware of it. Either way, 86 is one too many. One of the 86 will not be on scholarship at UM this fall.

I haven't heard of anyone incoming who was offered a greyshirt. As far as I know, all our signees will be expecting a full scholarship. If the staff pulls a Les Miles at this point, I will be extremely disappointed.

We've been receiving conflicting info on him for weeks, which illustrates the point. We don't have perfect information and don't always know exactly what is communicated to every recruit. I trust that Hoke is upfront and honest with every recruit. But that doesn't mean some recruits can't be offered grayshirts without us knowing about it.

Perhaps, but count me as someone who would be skeptical if he haven't heard it. There are so many people covering recruiting right now, and countless interviews done by all these people, and all the insiders that are established, I have a hard time believing we wouldn't know if the staff offered a recruit a greyshirt upfront. Not that it couldn't happen, but it seems highly unlikely. Unless I just missed the news or something and you know something I don't.
