I'm a Bills fan, and I might cry if we take Geno Smith in the first. The team's about to let one of our best OLs walk, and as much as we need a QB, we only have one reliable WR on the team. Smith is not good enough to justify the 8th overall pick in a bad QB draft.

Yeah, athletically he is special. Can't teach his stop and start ability. His hands are a bigger knock then his route running, he doesn't have natural hands and catches with his body. As for his route running he does run some lazy routes at times. Which is weird, because often times he is a willing run blocker. Usually guys who are willing run blockers aren't lazy route runners, but he is. If you take him, you aren't taking him for his hands, you are taking him for his special ability in the open field.

You can teach catching with your hands and route running. You cant teach athletic ability or physical attributes. You have to understand that last season was his first season with an actual WR coach(the year before that he was juco) As for his routes I dont know if I woud call it lazy more like sloppy.

You can technically argue that you can teach hands. But I can't think of one body catcher coming out of college who has turned into a natural hands catcher. I just can't think of some one who had been able to do it. When you have been body catching for most of your football career up to this point, it is only natural for it to come back to you in real live game speed.
Btw no argument from me on teaching route running, that definitely is much easier to correct. I'm not saying he will/won't correct it, but definitely teachable.

Like I said I think he will be fine. IMO he is the top WR in the draft(which honestly isnt saying much). If my team had a top 10 pick then I would pick 3-4 positions and take the best available player. If a team is drafting that high then there is a reason and one player will not make that big of a difference.

Yeah, my favorite WR in the draft is Keenan Allen. Then Tavon Austin. These guys aren't free of valid question marks either though. Allen has great body control and hands, but lacks vertical speed. Austin has good hands, separates well, runs very crafty routes and is obviously athletically gifted, but he is tiny. This is one of the weaker top 10's i can ever remember as far as blue chippers go, but yet on the other hand it is one of the deepest 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds I can ever remember as well.

I think that Allen will be around in the early 2nd round. So if someone had a top 10 pick they could get best available and Allen, Wheaton, The General, or Bailey. It really depends on what type of WR a team is looking for. I agree the top end isnt there, but it is very deep. It would be a good draft to trade back and get more picks. (also very deep in OL and DL)
