My postgame thoughts on Michigan-Michigan State

I understand what you're saying, but if Denard thought he was going to sit in the zone, lofting could have caused a potential turnover as well. Sitting + zipping = easy TD catch between the numbers. I just think the two had different ideas, hence a throw behind a wide open receiver. Hopefully these are things the O can clean up, no matter who is the one responsible. Getting that close needs to result in TD's, especially if we look to challenge for a B1G title with possible Rose Bowl berth.

    Great points all around.

Absolutely. Also extremely important to get this stuff worked out if we want to have anything other than a complete embarrassment happen in the actual Rose Bowl game. We're not gonna beat USC with field goals, and we're REALLY not gonna beat Oregon with field goals.

Yeah I think Gallon should have sat down in that hole and easy TD

looks like a good pass from this pic. gallon just couldn't hit the brakes fast enough to stop faster

The pass was late. If Denard throws it a half second earlier to the exact same spot, it hits Gallon in stride coming across. But because it was late, it ended up behind Gallon. Gallon could have stopped, but I don't think that is the route. Denard is supposed to hit him in stride as he comes across. The throw simply was a fraction of a second late.

Plus I don't see Denard doing all that thinking about 'leading' and placement. He was throwing off back foot and hearing footsteps all afternoon

One other thing about that play - if Denard throws the ball to where Gallon is running the route (i.e. leads him) that ball is going right at the refs head. I almost wonder if that spooked Denard on that play - he might have thrown it to avoid the ref.

agreed, Denard always has trouble when he's getting consistent pressure. He starts gettin happy feet and throwin nothing but fastballs.

  • Another thing that I took away from this game is that I'm surprised Rawls got 0 carries. Fitz and Denard were doing a fine job, but Rawls never even saw the field. That surprised me.

  • and if Denard tosses it a bit higher, Funchess has that TD in the Corner. DR has no touch or accuracy

I really want nothing to do with Oregon. USC or Oregon State match up A LOT better.
