-I really like what I saw from Gardner at WR. He's a mismatch for defenses. I think he will do big things this year and noticeably progress each week. I also thought Gallon played well, showed great hands.
-Norfleet has some wheels. He was moving real well and broke out a few times against the most athletic special teams unit he'll face all year. Also showed some of that power people have been talking about. He will be a great player for us.
-Jake Ryan was wherever the ball went. Put a lot of pressure on McCarron. He is going to have a ton of tackles this year and really start to gain some national recognition. I also thought BWC showed some good signs. Our D-line played better than we could've expected against the great wall of Bama.
-Hagerup. Hope he can keep that up. First punt was absolutely demolished.
I'm really excited for this year. That was by far the best team we're going to face. They have strengths where we have weaknesses and we only got outplayed 20-14 after the 1st quarter. I'm not using this as an excuse and we would have lost anyway, but it does not help to play without your starting RB and best CB all four quarters. I also think Denard will play much better this year than he showed tonight. Looked like he was playing under a ton of pressure all game and was unable to run the ball.

Except for Denard's overthrows early in the game (too much adrenalin?) and his pick 6 at the end of the first half (he just didn't see the LB?), I thought we looked pretty good. Well, actually, throw in Avery's early breakdowns when he had to come in for Countess, too. But it was the first game of the season and we were playing the most dominant and complete team in the country over the past 3-4 years. Everyone who plays Bama this year is going to get trucked by their rushing game. With the early mistakes we made in this game, the score quickly got out of hand, but I was impressed with our pressure on McCarron and the way we fought back in the second half. Assuming Countess/Lewan/Moore are not out very long and assuming Toussaint is back soon, I see us being a better all around football team this year than last year. Gardner has tons of potential at WR and Norfleet is a very real return threat. And our pass protection of Denard held up well against a very good defense. IMO we looked better in this game than we did in either of our losses last year and in those games we weren't playing teams anywhere in the same league as Alabama. Just my

We will be fine for the rest of the year. Everyone who is overreacting like its the end of the world is either not a college football fan or just living in a dream world to think we had any chance to beating a team like Bama. We are not there yet but were still a good team that should still do good things this year no reason other wise to think we wont. Dave Brandon is the one people should be upset with scheduling this game now when we weren't ready & to lose a home game. Just a bad idea.

This is the optimistic thread. Let's keep it that way.
Sorry man. Really not being pessimistic. If you read the rest of my posts from the night you would see that I am in no way panicking or anything.
