Most Important Commits

  • Gerry Hamilton and JC Shurburtt analyze the top 10 classes and the one recruit they believe is the most important to each class.

Pretty hard to argue against Michigan's, as they say that "there may not be one commit more important to a single program than Shane Morris."

    What do you think?

The most important commits in the top 10 2013 classes

Who are the most important commits for each of the top 10 classes in the 2013 cycle?

  • I think arguments could also be made for Dymonte (the wall in Ohio is down and he's an incredible safety) and LTT (our second best recruiter, screams "Michigan Man" and has a ton of potential at OT), but Morris is an easy #1 especially when you consider our need at QB.

  • Are they the only two guys that do rankings for 247?

    Completely agree with this.

They head up the process, but others have input as well.

No. We are part of a team. We do head up the process.

  • I think anyone that says someone other than Morris is simply kidding themselves. As a player, Shane fits Borges offense better than just about any prospect out there. How many kids across the country have his combination of arm strength and accuracy while maintaining sound mechanics? I would guess you could count them on one hand. As a recruit, he's a 5 star from the state of Michigan. You simply don't come across a more important recruiting victory than that. As a recruiter, he's at least partly responsible for the class we currently have. We would still have a great class even if he didn't say a word(Michigan will always recruit well) but I highly doubt we would have a top-3 class without the help of his recruiting ability.

I don't think there's a more important recruit anywhere in the country.

  • Agree. Shane is #1, because his skill set is going to reshape our offense for the future.

Dymonte may end up to be the best player, however.

  • Obviously Shane Morris is the most important, but if I have to pick someone other than him....I would say Patrick Kugler. You see how our OL is struggling and with him having immediate family in the NFL; it should really help the chemistry of the entire OL. Provided he stays and plays Center. I think his commitment and knowledge he can bring from being around the highest level of the game will be an intangible that we will all take for granted. This will make everyone on the offense better. Opening holes for RB's,and pass protecting and picking up blitzes for the QB's.

I've gotten Phil Mickelson, Muschamp, Mike Leach and Vince Gill.

I'm actually a near twin of Lance Berkman.
