Just wanted to start a thread related to Mitch McGary since we are less than 7 hours from his decision being announced. All signs point to him being the biggest recruit Michigan has landed in a decade. Lavell Blanchard was the Gatorade Player of the Year, so not sure if he was a top-5 nationally like Mitch, but he had serious national interest and recognition.

That may be nice and all, but I can't get comfortable at all until I hear the words out of his mouth.

Hate to say it since you're a Domer in our new house, but I agree that Dirk isn't a great comparison. Mitch seems much more fluid than Dirk in terms of athleticism, and doesn't have that sweet stroke. The comparison that jumps out to me is Lamar Odom. Mitch seems to have a better post game, but they both have really good handle for being around 6'10".

Can't remember the last time the BB team landed a guy like this. Very exciting, and I really hope I don't get disapointed. I've been keeping my hopes down the last couple weeks, but the last two days the more I read the more I get a positive vibe.

Gotta be Lavell Blanchard who won the Gatorade POTY award in '99-'00. Other players who have got it for hoops have been Webber, Stephon Marbury, Kobe, Baron Davis, LeBron (2x), Dwight Howard, Greg Oden, Kevin Love, Brandon Knight (2x), etc. That's good company to be in.

McGary would be huge. That whole 2012 class would be incredible. Robinson is going to be a beast and I love Stauskas's game.
