FWIW, and this is not intended as a flame, but McCray's also a perfect example of the type of Ohio kid who ends up at Michigan and plays with a chip on his shoulder because he wants to prove OSU wrong. Joe Bolden is another. I think Urbie reached out to Bolden late, but other than that OSU showed no interest. He also was passed over by ND, another one of his childhood favorites, who told him he was too short. At 6"2"-3", his height clearly is not an issue, but I guarantee he will remember that comment every time he suits up against the Domers in the coming years

I'm worried about this commitment, while at the same time, I feel confident if he commits he'll stay committed.

As most have said, he's a legacy at ohio, his teammate is going there, and he wanted to go there but got no offer. If he gets that offer and his teammate/dad start getting in his ear, I feel like he could flip.

On the other hand, Michigan turned down Sevon Pittman's commitment because of the fact they thought he'd flip to osu once Meyer got there (you can tell he wasn't sold on msu by his comments: "I just figured, why not msu?"). I think the staff will do some due diligence to protect against that and make sure Michigan is his choice. Not sure about his connection with other UM commits. Last year, guys like Kalis and Bolden were clearly like brothers in the GBOD crew with the other commits. Is McCray tight with anyone? I've seen Taco and Dukes mentioned.

But Columbus seriously smells like hot garbage. Literally. Rats and gnats everywhere. Nice areas a block away from drugs and hookers. It's pretty much filth.

I don't want to beat a dead horse on this, but these RR/Meyer comparisons for the Ds just don't make much sense. The CBs we have for the 2013 class alone are 6'1" and 6'2", for instance. That's probably bigger than the RR LBs and DEs. Then there's last year's DL, who.... oh never mind....

My brother used to live in Detroit and I have to admit I had a great time going out on the town when I visited him. Walking around certainly is not an option, though, and there definitely was a focus on getting to the car fast. My father stayed downtown one time for business. He walked outside the hotel and a cop stopped him and said, "What are you doing?" He replied, "I was just going to take a walk around the block to get some fresh air." The officer replied, "You'll never make it."

The reality is, though, that Cleveland actually was a great place to grow up. The city itself has essentially everything someone could need and punches above its weight in sports and arts options. The ring around it is scary, then the suburbs are extremely nice.

Am not understanding the Detroit commentary unless it's the east side. Am originally from Jamaica (so my perspective will be a tad different, shall we say) yet have family and have spent plenty of time in northwest Detroit. Specifically on Mettetal, off of Schoolcraft. Think it was between Rutherford and St. Mary.

Have discussed RR's defenses at WVU ad infinitum, and they were always average to above average statiscally (although many do not like Gibson). That being said, one must also recall that recruiting at West Virginia is quite different than recruiting at Ohio State. They HAD to use 'tweeners because it was hell attracting talent there - and the 3-3-5 was a way of both defending against the spread and getting his most talented players on the field.

Regardless, am curious to see precisely what Urban's recruiting strategy will be at Ohio State. I refuse to believe that he'll "pass" over talent in Ohio for talent elsewhere (and for anyone stating that RR "passed" over talent in Michigan in favor of talent in Florida, bullcrap. One, he had Carr's cronies actively undermining his attempts to recruit IN Michigan; in addition, the numbers he pulled from Michigan were not drastically different from previous recruiting classes. Also his attempts were thwarted by MSU homers at different feeder schools in Michigan (Fred Smith, William Gholson, the DT that was out of shape at first then went to Ohio State, and Lawrence Thomas)).

That's an usual statement, "the staff told McCray they weren't ever going to offer." Why would a staff come out and directly tell a legacy that?

Those are my words. I'm sure the staff was plenty respectful and eloquent, but of course I wasn't there and wasn't privy to the conversation. Personally, I like McCray's tape. My guess is given the timing we'll see a LB commit to OSU within the next month or so, though that's merely my suspicion.
