    I'm reminded of that scene 90% of the time I wander over to Bucknuts. I think soflabuckeye is by far the worst offender - 99% of his/her posts are simply illegible and look like they were written by a drunken monkey.

  • I guess it is fun to debate on internet forums and that is why we all pay for the priviledge, but the reality is that UM and OSU will both bring in top 10/5 classes every year. The recruiting will NOT be the deciding factor as the classes will essentially be equal (look at history of top 10 classes - it definitely does not guarantee success on the field and the difference between top class and 10th class is meaningless). It will matter the character of the kids and the coaching they receive and which team gets more breaks on the field.

    All in all, where player X or player Y ends up really won't matter at all ... but it does give us all something to do in the offseason dead times, I guess. One thing is probably safe to say - the next 10 years will be much more competitive in THE GAME than the last 10 years.

    I disagree to some extent....the totality of a recruiting class does matter. Alabama has had a top 3 class for the past 5 years (ESPN) and won 2 national championships. So when you couple that with astute coaching, its a great scenario (but doesnt guarantee anything). There is a big difference between being a habitual top 3 class, and only being a consistent top 8-10 class. Alabama being the 8th best class back in 2009 may have meant that they didnt get Trent Richardson for instance, a vital 5 star Heisman caliber type player....and thats the difference between those top classes and lesser ranked ones, you have more quality prospects, that are better players. You also have at-least 1 Trent Richardson type difference maker in that class, that literally can make the difference in so many ways, in so many games throughout the season trying to capture a NC...so inherently your margin of error is less if you have less overall blue chippers.

    This is a great point. UM needs that one elite 'play-maker' on offense, outside of Shane. While Shane is a critical part, he needs 'someone' elite to hand-off or throw the ball at. I am hoping Treadwell solves this need for us. On defense, we need the big-play guy on the D-line.

    I don't think you necessarily need an elite playmaker. Look at Stanford and Andrew Luck. If Morris is as good as we think he is (I'm not saying he'll ever be good as Andrew Luck), then we just need to surround him with good talent, doesn't have to be great. Because he could make them look great.
