Everyone needs to cool it or I'll start dishing out bans. We lost, big deal. We're also a top 7 team and have steadily improved every single year under Belein. Overreact much? Do people not remember the Amaker years?

No. We just became basketball fans this year. That's what Spartans tell me anyway.

It is pretty clear to see which poster is overreacting the most... Still think that its an rcmb or bucknut troll stirring the pot.

  • I just can't think about this right now...better to let it settle for a few days, and then think about it. Because right now, I am having dreams of a 2/15 matchup in the tournament, and our side on the losing end.

  • I don't agree that we are a Top 10 team. I don't have a vote but since the beginning of February we are:

    5-5 overall.
    1-4 on the road.
    2-3 against ranked opponents.
3 games we absolutely gave away.
The only 2 "big" games we did win were by a combined 3 points in which every single one of us had their heart in their throat.
And besides Illinois, we haven't been able to put away any team in any game.

I want this team to succeed as much as the next man, but if you read the tea leaves, the way we are playing going into the tournament is not predicting future success. I don't think this is a team that can just "turn it on" as they say.

A #2 seed doesn't look that certain at the moment.

  • Want to thank Trey Burke for what he's done the past 2 years. He just played his last game at Crisler. Good luck in the pros.

ESPN dropped us from a #2 seed.

    This team should be 15-20.

Its all gonna depend on what we do in the BTT.

Lose to PSU again- 4/5 seed

Win a game or two- 3 seed

Make it to finals or win it- 2 seed

  • With this heart-breaking loss to Indiana at home, Michigan is currently a 3 seed.

And depending on how we perform in the B1G Tournament, Michigan could remain a 3 seed, become a 2 seed, or fall to a 4 seed.

That's the range Michigan is looking at right now.

We'll probably have to win the BTT for it now. Any loss would kick us right out of it again.

  • On to the tourney. You win the B1G tourney a lot of you will forget about this game. Plus as a fan base calling each other out isnt right. As a wolverine fan I was raised to respect another Michigan fan. So chill respect what the team did this season with their freshman. Even with this loss I still think they will win the B1G tourney.
    Go MFing blue.

I don't care if we're a 2 or 3, I just hope we get a draw that helps our frontcourt. If they're mismatched we're going to get abused on the boards.

I really want them to, hope they do & will be rooting for them all the way. But if I was a betting man, and I am, I would take that bet immediately.

    Maybe.

Contrary to what others might think, I think this is a really good Michigan team despite being flawed and young. Hence, I want this Michigan to be recognized for future generations.

Because of the gut-wrenching loss to Indiana, Michigan won't be able to hang a banner that reads "2012-2013 B1G Regular Season Champions."

The only way I'll get over this loss is if Michigan reaches the Final Four or wins the National Championship.

A B1G Tournament Championship (albeit unlikely) would be nice but what this team does in the NCAAT will ultimately determine how it is remembered.

There's no ifs and but about it, this loss is a ball-buster, a heartbreaker, whichever way you wanna put it. The way the team lost is probably worse than the L itself. Think about it, Burke wanted that ball, he wanted to be fouled, he wanted to hit the FTs to win it. The fact he didn't get the one even, it's discouraging, disheartening in every sense. For him, for us. There was a banner on the line, there was a legacy on the line, there were awards on the line, there was pride on the line.

You can't fault Beilein for this, a terrible coach wouldn't put the team in position to beat one of the two best teams in the country. At the end the team played well enough but the flaws you mention made sure to make it an "almost" signature moment and "almosts" are the worst sorts of failures, the ones that haunt you.

  • To me there is a disconcerting pattern with this team. Not sure if it's coaching-related or what.

They sputter to start each half in basically every big game they've played in this year; they also have a real inability to close out games.

Those are two really troubling tendencies if this team wants to make any kind of run in either the B1G or NCAAs.
