Do you this team is identical to when it played those games?

Coach Beilein should have instructed his team to foul even before Wisconsin could in-bound the ball.

Too many things have to go wrong for the team with the 3 point lead with less than 3 seconds left in the game to lose.

And that is exactly what he said. The espn commentators said so, that they were told to foul.

  • Beilein, god love him, blew this game. We should have fouled immediately on that last play in regulation. Maybe Lavert didn't get it. I don't know. But I frankly wouldn't have put him in on that play anyway.

It is fine. They will hopefully learn from this. This is what Big 10 play is...if you don't play perfect, you lose. I guess time to root for Indiana tomorrow again. And then Sparty this week.

Michigan had so many chances to win that game and put it away, but they played stupid and couldn't close when it mattered.

If everyone wants to go for moral victories again like after the Indiana game, be my guests because it won't change the scoreboard and it doesn't show up in the standings.

+1 I feel the same. It blows my mind people are like ohh it was on the road in a hostile environment its ok maybe next time. GTFO Michigan is better then that.

Couldn't agree more. We had a 6 point lead and with our offense should not let that slip away. We had what, 3 shot clock violations that let them catch up? Closing out is a major problem and the games will only put more pressure on the team from here on out.

Who is taking moral victories? It's incredibly hard to go undefeated in baskettball. It hasn't been done in a long long time. Michigan was going to lose some games this year just as every team has. If you want to give up on this team and stop watching be my guest. I am not going to do that and still think we have a great shot at making a deep run in the tourney and possibly a NC. A half court shot at the end of regulation to tie the game is not going to change my opinion.

  • On a side note, rushing the court is so overplayed nowadays. That annoyed the hell out of me. Wisconsin has now beat 6 of the last 7 Top 5 teams that have played there and they rush the court? That looks so desperate in my opinion; they should expect that outcome by now, not look overjoyed that they "pulled one out". I'm of the opinion: "Act like you've been there before".

No one is gonna "give up on the team and stop watching them". Ya they are gonna lose some games but this game should not have been one of them.

I agree they shouldn't have lost this game and i am pissed. But i just don't get the whole we can't win away from home, blah blah blah crap. This team is still one of the best teams in the nation. No reason to get all crazy because we lost at Wisconsin.

At what point will they start learning though? OSU, IU and now UW... This team is burdened with well deserved expectations and it is not a sin to voice displeasure when they don't live up to said expectations.

Nope and I expect them to learn from losses like this(especially the freshman) and they will be better when the tourney comes. Which is exactly why i asked you how many weeks away is the tourney.

Agree. It hurts, but it is not going to even be our last loss in the league, most likely. Everyone take a deep breath.

Well I didn't expect them to be better than 21-3 at this point so I am good.

  • The concerning issue is that the play was an exact replication of Evan Turner. Nobody guarded the inbounder, and nobody fouled. I don't hate LeVert being in the game at this time. I can't remember who was taken out, but he was a better option than Hardaway and Stauskas. Hardaway because he had 4 fouls (and I believe the team was told to foul) and LeVert is a lengthier, quicker defender than Stauskas. It seems like LeVert didn't follow through with the instructions, but guarding the inbounds pass was a necessity in this situation too.

  • I'm absolutely fuming. Just absolutely seething. Almost an IDENTICAL situation that they faced against Ohio State in the Big 10 Tournament a few years back, and Beilein makes the same goddamned mistake. He told the players to foul and they didn't, that's on them. But to not guard the inbounds pass; to allow Wisconsin to get a clean pass in and thus give Brust a running start, that's bullshit. With 2.4 seconds left, you put somebody in front of the inbounds man, arms up, make them work to get it in - IE, make somebody COME BACK TO THE BALL to get it, as opposed to running away and getting a running start toward the opposite basket.

Not even gonna comment on all the other things that went wrong today (DUNK THE BALL).....unacceptable to make that coaching mistake again. This game should've been won. When the conference race is this tight, to let a game like this slip away because of an error like this...I feel like I've got steam coming out of my ears.

    Despicable.

B!G regular season for Mich. comes Tuesday night at Sparty, that simple. Even if IU beat ohio, we must beat sparty and then take out IU in the season finale.

  • I think losses like that should help bring us back to earth. Is this a good team? Yes. Is this the best team we've had in a *long* time? Yes. Is this the best team in the country? No. Is this a tournament favorite? No. Is this team a Final Four team? Probably not. A lot of things would have to go our way, a lot of improvement would have to be made in the next 4 weeks or so for that to happen.

A championship-caliber team wins this, it's tough to win at Wisky but the team was in the position to take the W and focus on MSU. It didn't do that. It nearly didn't do that vs OSU either. The next game at Breslin? I am going in with the feeling it's a likely loss. The team has yet to prove it can win games like that.

  • Can't lose games you should win. Still have two games against Sparty one against IU. Which all three could be losses. Bye bye #1 seed more thwn likely. Were a good team but not a great team imo.

Well based on what I have seen from every other team in the nation I disagree with you on us being a favorite and a final four team. I haven't seen one team separate themselves yet. I think there is a group of teams that all have as good a shot at the title this year as anyone and Michigan is in that group.

  • side note, once again Robinson was non existent. For God sakes can Morgan get healthy! Bielfelt playing 18 minutes can't happen. I know he played pretty well but still shouldn't be playing so many minutes

This nailed it. This was a critical loss that makes it much more difficult to win the conference.

Well ... I will say this was a bad loss. I felt they could lose this one - and did. MSU at home will be very tough - aka first back-to-back losses of the season coming up.

I haven't seen any one team seperate themselves, but I've seen that this team isn't the *one* either. A lot of teams have flaws but I feel the flaws we have: 1) experience and mentality, "coldness" if you wish (2) inside game (3) defense are flaws that usually make it very, very difficult to win four plus knockout games in a row.
