Oh, look! This board overreacted too early! Shocker..

Oh look, a lucky escape against a terrible team that exposed the same flaws that will be this team's likely downfall in the near future.

  • roflmao I should have known UMSkeletor would be ITT with his eternal optimism. I do believe he has never said a positive word about the basketball team.

Game threads are like going on a date with a chick PMS'ing. It might turn out OK in the end and you leave satisfied, but it's gonna be a crazy ride.

  • Look, good teams win bad games like this. Glad we pulled it out...we needed it.

    Now, IU.

Luck? Try the team responded to adversity.

    What about it was "luck"?

+1. An ugly win on the road is still a win!

The team that let Purdue score nearly at will even toward the end? The "luck" was that Purdue missed a number of open looks toward the end. Do you know how often Purdue scores 75 points? Here's a hint, they last did it in mid-November. At the end Burke's sheer talent won out over the deficiencies of Purdue, but structurally there was very little to like about this performance.

  • I'm glad they won. But if they don't play better D they are going to get run out of the gym by IU.

Burke expends so much energy on offense that he has a hard time on the defensive end, and we have nobody else that can stay in front of someone who can put the ball on the deck.

  • Man Hardaway and GRIII have disappeared. But there was a Stauskus sighting tonight, so that is a positive.

There were plenty of times we missed open looks as well. If you're counting that as luck, you have to say that goes both ways.

Agreed we have things to work on, many things, but this comeback was not lucky. Burke was the main reason we came back, but some other players stepped up towards the end as well.

  • This game reinforces my concerns about Michigan's team defense under Coach Beilein. He needs to hire someone who will do a better of coaching defense.

However, I recognize that this teams plays much better at home than it does on the road. If our defense doesn't improve considerably next season when everyone minus Burke will be a year older then my fear will be confirmed.

    Maybe he's Phil from WTKA?

    Dizzo

  • It won't happen. But imagine a squad with a rotation of. Burke, Walton, Hardaway, GR3, Stauskas, Irvin, McGary, Morgan, and Donnal.

With Spike, Horford, and etc. getting rare spot duty.

Michigan plays with 5 true freshmen in its top rotation. It's not hard to see why the team has problems on defense. Right now, Michigan starts 2 freshmen and its role players are also freshmen. In 2-3 years, there will be 1-2 freshmen starting and all the role players will be juniors or seniors. The defense will follow suit. Michigan will probably never be an elite defensive team, but it will certainly be good.

  • Watching this team play gives me heart burn.

  • still settling for way to many jump shots. Against MSU they really penetrated the lane. If they could do that and still hit form three they would be lethal.

I love and hate this team. When they show up they are one of the best in the country. When they don't they are an average team. Just hope the right team shows up during the tournament.

Ill take road wins in any way, shape, and form. Im just really happy the season finale is gonna be crazy!!!

You haven't said 1 thing positive about Michigan in the this whole thread.

They are 25-5 with a chance to win a share of the B1G 10 title. What more do you want? Teams don't play well on the road in college, and Michigan still got it done. Check all the teams in our conference, if you win on the road it is close.

You just have to win anyway possible, and Michigan got it done. It was also Senior Night for Purdue coming off a big road win. They played well.

Michigan's defence wasn't what it needed to be, but we won. They played well against Sparty, and will again against Indiana.

Thankfully the tournament aren't road games.

I am never going to sugarcoat sub-par performances. I watched this game and it was sub-par, end of story. Result, shmesult, you gotta do better than this.

You never say anything positive no matter what. Not just sub-par performances. If we play well, you just disappear. If we play even a little poorly, I know that I can expect a sighting from you lol it's fun.

You're assuming too much, too far down the line.

In 2-3 years you have no idea what the roster will look like.

Does GR3 stay more than 2 years?

Do Walton and/or Irvin go 1 and done?

    Will there be a transfer?

    No way of telling.

That's untrue. I'll be in every thread for every game I manage to watch live, which due to work isn't as many as I would have liked. I do remember being mostly positive vs. NC State.

Every team in the land struggles on the road, so it's not just Michigan like you make it seem.

Also you questioning Burke's shot selection earlier saying it was "ego", then talk about the only way Michigan won was because Burke took over. Just weird.

Also result-shmesult? You play to get Ws, not to please some overly critical fan.

Also gain some perspective and just enjoy the games. instead of ripping these guys to shreds over things that you shouldn't expect all the time on the road. Seems you are new to watching college basketball. Just IMO. shrug

  • Pissed/happy right now. Had a beer league hockey at 9, so I watched the first half of the Michigan game. Decided to DVR the second half, got home watched the entire second half and with 1 minute left, the recording cut off. Missed the finish. Go Blue!

Anybody want to give a synopsis of what happened... right after we got the ball back up 2 points.
