Michigan practicing at Ford Field tonight

I think it's a great idea by Hoke to practice at the Lions stadium to prepare for the game by getting used to crowd noise and just the feel for an indoor stadium. Also gives the players some excitement for practice. Good move by Hoke.

Good call by Hoke.
Sidenote: I would bet that if this practice was open to the public, more Michigan fans would be there than MSU had fans at their game vs FAU at Ford Field.

The University of Michigan football team is in such a privileged position.
How many schools can just take its football team to a dome that's just one hour away to practice?
Yeah, we may not have the weather of SoCal or SoFla but we definitely have everything else.

One caveat, Ford Field is literally half the size of Jerry World, so I think dome is "relative"

Will be more fake noise tonight than Jerry World. That stadium is built for comfort and convenience, doubt the offense will be affected by noise in a few weeks

Some law office and other companies have conference rooms that look out on the field. I bet they get to watch the scrimmage drills in practice.

Are they pumping in crowd noise? Or just music? Either way its a superb idea. I'm glad this is a "business trip". I love jokes no nonsense attitude. He is preparing for a war. Our guys will come out playing as hard as we have ever seen them....I guarantee it.

true dat.....but just from a depth perception and shear magnitude, its completely different

Yeah, but Michigan is in a unique position already where 100,000+ shouldn't be a big deal for them. We've been simulating that for decades.

Yes, first time I have heard him used the words "excited" and "pleased" publicly when discussing practice since he got the job.

I'm not sure UM is in a unique position. A number of teams, including Alabama, regularly play in front of 100,000. IMO the biggest "venue" issues (other than the disruption of travel and playing away from AA) are that Jerry World has a roof with mega scoreboards dangling overhead and is really a one-of-kind place with bells and whistles you don't see anywhere else. The roof/lighting could cause issues on ST and the scoreboards easily could be a distraction. Both teams need to take extra care not to lose focus in an environment like that.
