You assume the coaches haven't reached out to WRs and that's where you are mistaken Top flight WRs just arent interested in UM. Outside of Devon Allen no top WRs sniffed the campus. The coaches can do all the reaching out but interest has to be reciprocated. Steve and Clint won't publish a report saying WR xyz was contacted by coach heck but didn't call coach heck back thus you don't hear of the efforts by the coaches.

Offers don't really mean much, especially at the WR position.
Here are some WRs you may be familiar with:
Justin Blackmon: Best offer was Okie State, only other teams to offer were Mizzou, Northern Iowa, and Colorado.
Jerry Rice: Went to Mississippi Valley State University
Brandon Marshall: Went to University of Central Florida
Marques Colston: Went to Hofstra after turning down Mizzou
Steve Smith (Panthers): Started out at Santa Monica College after receiving no offers in high school and had to work his way to Utah
Chad Johnson: Teammate of Steve Smith at Santa Monica College and transferred to Oregon State
Eric Decker: 2* that went to Minnesota
Long story short, WR recruiting can be a roll of the dice and there are many misses by big time programs. You shouldn't base the WRs that are going to be attending Michigan by their offer sheets.
How many offers did Braylon Edwards have coming out of high school?

Yeah, definitely WRs come out of absolutely nowhere sometimes, Wes Welker is another great example. Actually, if you look at the top 10 NFL receivers by YPC this year, the best regarded coming out of high school was Torrey Smith...a 3* dual threat QB at the time. Only one other of them cracked three stars, the rest were 2* or non-FBS guys. Kind of crazy, really.
I actually kind of like York and Dukes a fair bit, especially York for his athleticism. If either of those guys develops real speed, look out. (Note, I haven't looked at Jones' tape at all so no opinion there, not trying to dis him).

Ok, so you sound like Sparty with your 3* mentality and coaching them up philosophy here. At Michigan we should expect to recruit highly regarded players across the board and every position. If you settle for mediocrity, that is what you will get. To analogize your grandiose NFL thoughts, we are looking for half a needle in a hay stack.
