Michigan Looking to Rebound

The Michigan basketball team tasted its first defeat last weekend. Now they look to recover against another top conference opponent in Minnesota.

I'd be satisfied with a close loss in this one. Minnesota is very good and The Barn is a tough place to play.

I think we'll need to shoot lights out to get a win, because Minnesota's length inside can block/alter too many shots - there's also their great defensive rebounding. If we can pull off the victory though, it puts us on the inside track for a #1 seed in the tournament imo.

Thomas ... who are you? Are you a new Wolverine247 staff member like Steve Lorenz? Or a national basketball writer like Steve Wiltfong is for football? Or a staff member for another team site on the 247 network a la Bill Kurelic and Steve Helwagen? I ask because it's important to know where our info is coming from. Thanks!

Tom used to write blogs for Hoke's Mad Magicians and then started writing them for Tremendous, so I assume he followed Steve L over here as a contributor.

I disagree. The loss at OSU hurt. We were/are the better team. A win @Minn will more than make up for that. It will show we are still one of the top 4-5 teams in the country and the favorites along with IU to win the B10. A loss @Minn will not be the end of the world, but it will be another missed opportunity to separate ourselves from the other top teams in the league. We only have a handful of such opportunities and we need to take advantage of them if we are going to win the B10.

Ahhh ... ok, thanks. That's fantastic. I didn't know that. FWIW it would be helpful to have them all introduce themselves like Steve did. Are there more?

I agree completely. I thought going into this two game away stretch that Michigan needed to at least come out of it 1-1. I thought the win would come against OSU, but that didn't work out. Tonight's game is huge for this Michigan team.

Also glad to have a Michigan bball reporter here now too. Welcome Thomas!

The only good thing I got out of the OSU game was that Michigan can play horrible and still almost beat a good basketball team on the road. This year's team is a lot less likely to be upset in the NCAA tourney.

Agree. Another way to look at it is that IU and MSU and Minny very well might be able to go into Columbus and beat OSU. We nearly did after playing like garbage for most of the first half. If IU does it, for example, suddenly we are down a game in the race for the B10 title. We need to make up that game somewhere and a road win @Minn is a perfect opportunity.

    Hey guys!

Thanks for the welcome! Yes, I formerly wrote for Hoke's Mad Magicians, Tremendous, and have contributed both to Lindy Sports (Michigan magazine edition) and to Maize and Blue News.

I will be a contributor here on Wolverine247 and will be specifically covering Michigan basketball. We are still in the transition from Tremendous, but I hope to offer some great coverage on here. If anybody ever has suggestions, thoughts, or comments, feel free to contact me.

Thanks again for the welcome and I look forward to a great game tonight!
