I love this coaching staff. Not only is this kid a beast, but he sounds like exactly the kind of person we want representing UM for the next 50 years.

I know the positions are similar in Michigan's 4-3 under, but he certainly seems like more of a 3-Tech than an SDE to me.

According to the article, Sione Houma is his cousin. I know who you're thinking of though, I just can't remember his name. It was a 2015 kid.

I'm pretty sure that's where they're looking at him for. Under Mattison's scheme, a lot of guys who might be the size to play SDE early in their career will just be bumped inside to the 3-Tech on passing downs, and then can just be bumped inside full-time if/when they bulk up.

Whatever the case, this is a great pickup. I'd say Mone and Ferns may have been Hoke's top two targets from the beginning.

Honestly, with Mattison's love of rotations, that's entirely possible too. I'm just picturing a scenario where we go with a big front and have either Pipkins or Hurst at NT and Mone at 3T. I think the coaches will want to find ways to get all of those guys on the field, rather than having all 3 of those guys slotted for one position.

I 100% agree with this statement. I think it's safe to say Michigan has gotten the two players they have targeted hardest with McDowell probably being third on that list.

They offered Mone almost as fast as they possibly could. The coaches were in Utah for an extended period of time recently and have just been outworking everyone else for him. Part of me is surprised the commitment didn't come a little bit sooner.
