  • Love that he's still high on us after experiencing Auburn - that shows that it didn't cool off at all.

Also, Auburn getting slaughtered couldn't hurt us.

Steve, do you feel like the coaching uncertainty will play a big role in his choices of UT and Auburn? Or is he really trying to go for the school and the program, not the coach?

  • I wonder if Green had a good time at Auburn, watching them get pounded 38-0. coffee

  • I just have a feeling he loves Auburn and likes them more than any other institution.

We'll have to see what Auburn does regarding their coaching staff.

Green said the Auburn coaching staff told him that they were staying put after this year.

Sure the staff doesn't make those decisions, so we'll have to see.

huh Romney told America that he was gonna be president.

Not getting political, just saying that they have no control over that promise.

I hate to say it, but if Green picks Auburn or UT over Michigan given the situations down south then he is voting for the girls. No doubt about it. And it's not a bad thing either... we were all 18 (some of you still are) once.

  • Chizik needs to be a real honest man and tell green that Auburn needs him as their RB, but their is a good chance he will be fired so come at your own risk. And your future could possibly be in the hands of a different staff. I can't imagine coaches doing this though....

  • Chizik is delusional if he doesn't realize he is at least, potentially, on the hot seat. And Green and recruits know it. I am feeling better, and better, about Green, and worse about LT.

There is no chance, in my mind, that the Auburn coaches are retained. They are not going to keep Loeffler around, and they might not even keep the pro-style offense that they've been so unsuccessful running. So the AD has to look at the fact if they dump Loeffler, who can they get as an OC? As we saw when RichRod tried to hire a DC, no top coordinator in their right mind will want to sign up with Auburn and attach himself to the Chizik-wagon. Chizik will be on the hot-seat regardless, and if he goes, the coordinators go too and have a major blemish on their coaching resume. Look at Illinois with the new coordinators Zook brought in, none of them were retained and were looking for new jobs once he got booted.

So either Auburn keeps everyone, or they start over entirely, and the risk of keeping Chizik another year is too much in the landscape of the SEC.

  • Dooley is gone from UT, they havent made it official
My news comes out of Knoxville, and someone close to the situation said they needed to start the search for new coaches as soon as possible because other SEC teams will also be looking

Green has an easy decision at this point IMO. Michigan should be his #1, as we provide him the best bet to excel at the next level. I honestly do not know what else he needs to decide at this point.

How would you like to reunite with loeffler?

No thanks at this point. He hasn't fared too well at his last couple coaching spots. And more importantly, there's no one on our current staff I'd get rid of to add him.

Agree. No room, I wouldn't trade any of our current coaches for him, and unfortunately he hasn't done very well at his recent stops. Throw in the negative feedback on Henne and Mallett's mechanics when they got to their next destination and it's not very enticing other than the fact he's a Michigan guy.

Edit: And for being a QB guru, Auburn has been abysmal there, with none of the 3 (4?) guys they've played looking halfway decent. And it's not like they were walkons, with Frazier and Moseley both being pretty heavily recruited.

From the other perspective though, why should he decide/announce today? He's still got games left in the playoffs, so why setup a press conference to focus on yourself while your team is still competing? Once his season ends it's going to be about 3 weeks before Christmas and 4 weeks before he is in San Antonio for the Army game. So why wouldn't he just wait and announce at the Army game on national TV instead of trying to setup a local press conference?

And with Rivals ranking him the #1 RB spot AND being the primary service involved in the Army game, wouldn't they be inclined to suggest to him how cool it would be if he announced there? Not saying they did that, just that it would be good for them if he did, and so many top prospects do that it makes sense for him to wait a few more weeks if he is ready.
