  • I think after his father was killed he got a little off course. I think he just needed time and space to see what was right in front of him.

    No - the point is that if a commit made a visit he would lose his offer. That is unless Hoke realized his O line sucks,then you get your offer back.

    And he DID lose his scholarship offer. Yet, it seems like Dawson really wants to be at Michigan. Calling up Hoke and basically pleading for his offer back wouldn't suffice for 99.9% of recruits, but I'm certain that Hoke took Dawson's situation into account. He couldn't have been mentally stable after losing his father in such a tragic accident. Have a little sympathy, would ya?

    There have only been three examples of de-commitments under Hoke... One de-committed and never looked back (Brown). One de-committed yet still has the offer (Conley). One de-committed and was re-offered (Dawson). So in the end, one thing IS FOR SURE, they all are considered not committed anymore and Michigan recruited/recruiting their spot.

    Go back to Urbieland and talk about the sweet bowl game Ohio is playing in.

    problem is there are A LOT of assumptions going on regarding the rule... only thing we know for sure about it is that once committed, spot is guaranteed. Take visit, lose guaranteed spot and the staff recruits for it again. So far with the three examples we have...

    Brown was uncommitted but according to his coach in an article on Bucknuts last year (see link), -Atwood said. “Michigan is still recruiting him too.” So still recruited Brown after losing his spot. (along with others)

    Conley, what we know.... De-committed, but according to several reports Michigan IS STILL RECRUITING him. (along with others)

    Dawson, what we know... De-committed, Michigan has re-offered and is being recruited again. (along with others)

    So where exactly is Hoke contradicting himself?

  • I think we need to keep in mind that there are other kids out there with offers as well. Anyone of them could commit at any given time. So i would think until 1 of them commit, lets see what unfolds until then. I myself love the position we are in. Its a win win

  • I'm actually torn on this kid. I will say that I see nothing wrong with what Hoke is doing, he has kept his word and gone after some more kids to fill the vacancy. No different than say Conley. But I'm actually starting to lean towards Hunt/Rogers/Lacey at this point. All very solid OL guys who could complete the OL class. I understand he has been through some tough times, but there is a way to search for your school and there are ways not too. If the kid commits first, I will support him, but following his recruitment he seems to be a grass is always greener type kid. I want a "through thick and thin" type kid. JMO
