McDowell Grows Into Touted Recruit

Truth be told, McDowell is a better fit for Notre Dame's 3-4 defense than he is our 4-3 under alignment...

how do you figure they are practically the same thing

3 out of the 5 should be back on the OL should be back next season. Our center Cave and rg golic won't be back. The others all have eligibility remaining.

Is the depth chart I'm looking at incorrect?

Here's what it shows for this season:

    Cave - Senior
    Watt - Senior
    Golic - Senior
    Martin - Senior
    Lombard - Junior

Stop this argument now, either talk about McDowell's recruitment or take it to PMs.

    Last warning, too all involved.

I think you meant to say "TO all involved" ... and the only reason I'm bringing it up is because word on the skreets is .. that's the fast track to being in the Brain Trust.

I expect Notre Dame to take a (big) step back next year.

I just found a depth chart of 2012 Notre Dame and I didn't realize how many juniors and seniors Notre Dame are starting for this year. For instance, 4 or 5 ND's starting OLinemen are seniors.

Have to take in account 5th year players. Too be honest I expected 7/8 wins this year with all signs pointing to 2013 as our year for a BCS run. Just going off the D, only lose Teo, KLM, and Motta. Golic and Cave are gone for sure with Martin and Eifert strong possibilities. Riddick is gone, but Wood could return. I think Martin comes back to play with his brother on the OL. Receivers are misleading seeing how the starters don't take half the snaps. Jones does Toma and Goodman not so much.. Diaco probably takes HC job so that would be huge loss..

Aren't Wood and Eifert seniors? That's what the depth chart is telling me.

Also, isn't Louis Nix likely to declare for the NFL after this season?

Lastly, are there rumors about Diaco leaving? If so, what schools are contacting him?

Wood and Eifert are both SR's, but they didn't play as FR so both have the choice of returning. I'd be surprised if Eifert returns, Wood 50/50 IMO. Nix sat out as a FR so look at him as if he's a RS SO. I'd be shocked if he left early. No teams are being mentioned, but Diaco will be one of the more sought after assistant coaches. We'll be lucky to hold onto him after 13. Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave this year. His name was being mentioned with Rutgers last year. He's from NJ, so I'd look for him to accept job out east.

  • Like I said, either talk about McDowell or take it to another thread.

I think we can both agree to hate ND because they think the football world revolves around them. I honestly thought they wouldn't be a factor but I think he's clearly leaning in that direction now. I've said a hundred times I'll pull for the in state kids regardless of a um selection. I think Dawson decommiting is bad for the perception of the conference as well.

Dawson decommiting is bad for the perception of the B10? No. I'll tell you what's bad for the perception of the B10. That teams like Sparty and Iowa and Illinois and Purdue have craptastic recruiting classes year after year. Even Vanderbilt and Ole Miss recruit better.
