McDowell Grows Into Touted Recruit

    Damn, you mad.

Not at all but the mattison ravens D pitch is so rediculous. Come on now, I've read a ton of your posts and your a reasonable poster who follows the game closely. You can't support a post pumping the tires on that weak theory. Not a single fan who actually knows sports would give mattison an ounce of cred for stepping in and working on the ravens D. Dude was there what, 23months?

So Greg Robinson would have done an equally good job at Baltimore with his ingenious schemes and game planning strategies?

Mattison stepped in and had a defense full of good players playing at a very high level in his scheme.

I think the difference between Greg Robinson's defense and Mattison's defense at Michigan should be clear enough evidence of the importance of a Defensive Coordinator. A bad D-coordinator can take a team full of very good players and make them look like crap. Regardless of who you have on your team, it still takes a good defensive coordinator to utilize your team correctly. While Mattison may not have developed the guys I mentioned, it's ludicrous to think that he wasn't partially responsible for their success. At the very least, you have to admit that he knows how to use players and he knows how to scheme.

I won't argue the importance of a good defensive coordinator in the least bit, that's for the big 12. We have the top two defenses statistically in the league and both of them are top ten nationally in both scoring defense and total defense if I'm not mistaken. Our defense is the only reason were not 2-6 at this point. I agree and think mattison is a good d coordinator without question. I just think the ravens were sick prior to his arrival, and they've been as good since. Their recent struggles are injury related and have nothing to do with scheme, not debatable. It's like inheriting a successful business and taking the credit for building it.
I haven't picked a fight on this board in six months and if you read through my posts you'll see that. I'm fairly objective but I'm not going to take grief from those two.

You can be fairly objective, but I don't know if you remember your first post that has now been deleted dropping F-bombs. I mention how you aren't at the MSU site and you follow-up with such comments as dbag, a mom sucks, a-hole... Stay classy skip.

Don't think that we have forgotten how two-faced you can be. Many here know your history.

Btw, I get your point. Urban Meyer's scheme made Alex Smith into the 1st overall pick. But only Jim Harbaugh can take credit for turning Alex Smiff into Alex Smith.

However, Greg Mattison deserves credit for maintaining the Ravens defense as one of the best in the league. Just like any coach, he had to overcome some injuries as well.

This is just completely false. I deleted many of your posts that were swearing and calling posters names. You came on this site with your first post having at least 2 f-bombs. That's picking a fight.

My history? Give me a break. Your referring to an argument I got in with TAMU and a few others around 6 months ago. There's nothing two faced at all about defending yourself albeit maybe a little too aggressively but for the most part I give credit where it's due.

Too sensitive and easily rattled? I said MSU sucked and you said my mom sucked. You're an idiot and you are lucky to be on a board that has mods as lenient as this one, because if you posted what you did and have posted, you would be instantly banned.

Well an idiotic post like yours deserves an equally dumb response does it not?

I didn't state anything abstract or irrational. You brought a personal attack into the conversation that was unnecessary.

But go ahead, continue to be a internet tough guy, then when you are called out return to being a little cry censored and ask for sympathy as if you did nothing wrong.

    EDIT: blue2468: Language.

  • Stop this argument now, either talk about McDowell's recruitment or take it to PMs.

    Last warning, too all involved.

I've said it before. If you continue to attack posters, you're gone. Try me once more please. I'm very sensitive and easily rattled, so I might just accidentally hit that "ban" button.

    Nope.

It had nothing to do with an argument.

You made a post on here saying that Michigan was a lock for Treadwell which Michigan fans disagreed with. Minutes later you made a post on the Bucknuts saying that Michigan fans were arrogant about recruiting.

A Michigan poster that frequents both boards noticed and posted your post from Bucknuts. You were exposed. But the pathetic thing was that you then came on here and tried to spin it away but the Michigan fans weren't going to put up with your nonsense.

That's when many Michigan fans, including me, labeled you two-faced. And that's just one instance.

I still have not deleted the PM exchanges with other Michigan fans about your schizophrenic style of posting. That's why I was able to recall the details about your history so quickly. Like I said before, many of us have not forgotten.

Edit #1: I just found the thread AND page where Skip was exposed. (If someone wants me to post it, I will.)

Edit #2: Blue2468, I just saw your post.

What is the "correct color of blue" to a MSU fan in this instance?

MSU has a rivalry with both Michigan and Notre Dame.

I think we can both agree to hate ND because they think the football world revolves around them. I honestly thought they wouldn't be a factor but I think he's clearly leaning in that direction now. I've said a hundred times I'll pull for the in state kids regardless of a um selection. I think Dawson decommiting is bad for the perception of the conference as well.

    Skip1856

  • A long time to go here... and both UM & ND would be a great fit, hell any school would be a great fit for a talent like McDowell. But i'm hoping having him at SDE will be much more appealling to him than playing the 2-Gap DE in a 3-4 defense.

I thought Michigan was the team to beat here, but after visiting with Malik, his father and coach over the weekend, I think Notre Dame is right there with the Wolverines. Obviously there will be future developments and McDowell will visit more schools and see more things, but I think this is shaping up to be a classic Michigan-Notre Dame recruiting battle and both schools have a great shot at this point.

This is encouraging news! Any idea when he plans on getting to ND for a game? All he needs to do is watch Stephon Tuitt during said visit.

No. No one here cares when he plans on going to ND either.

  • I expect Notre Dame to take a (big) step back next year.

I just found a depth chart of 2012 Notre Dame and I didn't realize how many juniors and seniors Notre Dame are starting for this year. For instance, 4 or 5 ND's starting OLinemen are seniors.

3 out of the 5 should be back on the OL should be back next season. Our center Cave and rg golic won't be back. The others all have eligibility remaining.
