Lions Offseason Thread

Lions and cardinal top players for reggie bush

I want him, but no way im paying this dude big money

I wouldn’t mind it, as long as it wasn’t for some crazy amount. His skill set would be a great fit for this offense and he would be a good short term fix.

I don’t really like any of the scat back’s in this draft besides Gio Bernard. But he’s been banged up ever since his time at Aquinas. After what has happened with Jahvid, I want nothing to do with injury prone scat backs.

Hopefully next year they can pick up either Lache Seastrunk or Ka’deem Carey.

I just don't think there will be a good enough DE available at 5. I think the only one top 5 material will be Moore, but he'll be gone. Werner and Jordan aren't top 5 picks if you ask me.

I think Ziggy Ansah is worth a top 5 pick IMO. He’s a freak athlete with a great motor and work ethic. He would be a great fit at LDE, and it would allow them to move Avril to the right side where he would be much less of a liability against the run.

I agree with you on Werner but Jordan IMO is worth a top 5 pick, just not at DE. He’s an OLB in either scheme. He can do a little bit of everything, and his ability to cover TE’s is very intriguing. He’s probably never going to be a great pass rusher, but his effect in other aspects of the game should make up for it. He’s going to end up becoming a rich man’s Manny Lawson, and would be a great fit as a 3-4 Sam. He’s a good player just not a fit for the Lions.

He can be the answer to all the problems TE’s have been giving NFL defenses.

In absolute agreement that the best player available theory is stupid at best. Needs are needs for a reason. They have passed on some good players at positions they needed help at in almost every draft now.

If you are always drafting best avail...then you will always have holes. Simple as that. Teams with holes do not win games.

  • Smh. I feel really sorry for Jarvis. Hopefully in the future we will be able to fix this sort of thing.

this best player available crap is like saying we're starving to death but were gona buy a new tv instead of food because it looks better than the food. Its ridiculous and the reason the lions are stocked at like 3 positions and bone dry at most of the others.

  • Bottom line is the Lions are screwed. This whole thread has been over-thinking the solution. The answer is the Lions need players/upgrades at every position. We need better OL, DE, LB, CB, RB, etc.....so its not an easy problem to fix. Good luck to that front office!

But then they'll go and draft a WR, a DT, a S, then finally address the big needs. Honestly they better take a corner first because having a great Dline with their back 7 doesn't mean jack. The lions can't cover any flipping receivers down field.

  • My miracle off season:

    Resign: C.Houston & Delmas

Sign: R.Bush, Levitre or Vasquez, S.Breaston

    Draft:
    1. Ziggy Ansah-DE/ Dee Milliner-CB
    2. Jonathan Cyprien-SS/ M.Hunt or T.Carridine-DE
    3. Nico Johnson - LB
    4. TJ McDonald- FS
    5. Manase Foketi - OL
    6. Denard Robinson - WR/RB
    7. Michael Mauti- LB (last pick- risk/reward)

My 2nd round pick is dependent on what I decide to do in the 1st.

I just whipped this together real quick. Obviously there will have to be more quantity of signings...and I'd also suggest there's no way this is gonna happen either. As you can see- im hoping for a mostly defensive draft...which I have been asking for, for like 3yrs straight now.

  • I'm severely behind in research for the upcoming draft, who are some guys we would likely pick in the 1st? Quick bio please, tia.

  • As of today this would be my ideal 4 round mock
    1. Ezekiel Ansah DE BYU
    2. Jonathan Cyprian SS FIU
    3. Da’Rick Rodgers Tennessee Tech
    5. Blaize Foltz G TCU

We don’t have a 4th right now because of the Tahir Whitehead trade. We might get a compensatory pick though because of Eric Wright.

I really like the Ansah and Cyprian picks. Schwartz was rumored to really like Cyprian at the Senior Bowl, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they traded up for him.

That’s really high for Nico Johnson though. He’s slow, not great in space, and is bad in pass coverage. He’s probably going to end up as a 5th or 6th round pick IMO.

I can’t see TJ McDonald playing FS at the next level. He’s very stiff in pass coverage. His best fit is going to be at SS.

  • Am I the only one who doesn’t really like Dee Milliner? He’s kind of stiff, lacks great speed (I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a 4.55 guy), and he doesn’t have ball skills. I like his physicality but he’s not an elite CB prospect. If he was in last year’s class he would have been rated as the 4th best CB.

IMO Desmond Trufant > Dee Milliner.

They run Tuesday. D line and LB’s run tomorrow. Ansah should destroy the combine tomorrow.

hammer You keep your dirty hands off Andy Levitre! My Bills suffer enough without getting looted every time we develop good young talent.

    Dear lions,

    Please make this happen

  • I definitely agree with the talk of a defensive end or an offensive lineman in the first round. Just please avoid drafting a wide receiver. The Lions have some huge need and I definitely think they need to focus on those first. They have the nucleus on offense and have a few good players on defense. Just build around them and they should be fine.

We actually had goodnpractice squad receivers last year.

  • I think the Lions should pick these picks

    OT Fisher in the 1st
LB John Bostic from Florida round 2
WR Patton from Louisiana Tech round 3
    Honey Badger round 4
