  • So they've given up on finding a RB in the draft, then. Lions are going to be fucked because of all the huge deals they have out to Stafford, Suh, and Johnson before the new cap on rookie deals...everyone has seen how high Johnson's salary has ballooned to (deservedly so) but if they want to keep Stafford, they are going to have to pony up. It's unsustainable to have 3 huge, max contracts to 3 players when you need 52 more....

    Jack Daniels

  • If they are willing to pay Bush, then does that also mean Avril will walk?

    Jack Daniels

  • I really dont think they can resign him.

    Need to draft de

I agree. I blame it all on Marty Hurney for handing Charles Johnson that huge, terrible contract. Completely fucked everything up. Avril's agent can point to that deal and ask for more....
So who do you like as a DE? I really like Werner but I doubt he makes it to 5...Moore would be a solid pick

    Jack Daniels

  • Avril is gone IYAM.

Don't think he's good enough, for the money he's apparently asking for. Buh-Bye!

Though I wanted Milliner with the 1st Rd pick coming up....im now almost certain: the pick will be DE.

Im not at all sold on Werner. Moore scares me for some reason also. I think the pick will be Ansah out of BYU now. With a long-shot at Dion Jordan from Oregon. But he has to have a torn labrum taken care of (surgery) after the combine.

As for Bush: I think he could be a spectacular addition to the offense. But- at what cost? Lions are already cap-strapped...so...yeah...Not sure I like the idea, unless its around 4mil per.

Lions need OL & Everything on Defense a LOT more than they need another RB.

  • Really? That'd be a great pickup as long as we don't have to spend too much. Him and Leshoure would be good complements IMO.

As long as we get Milliner/Jones/Moore in the 1st round and end up taking a good CB, OLB, OL, and DE in the draft, I'm happy.

  • I just don't think there will be a good enough DE available at 5. I think the only one top 5 material will be Moore, but he'll be gone. Werner and Jordan aren't top 5 picks if you ask me.

  • I disagree. I think Werner is the real deal. I am not the best evaluator of talent but I think he has less of a chance of being a bust than Jordan, Ansah, or even Moore (though I would be happy with Moore). Werner might even go to Jacksonville at 2. I would be pretty disappointed if they took Ansah at 5. That's a reach...if they traded down to around 9 or 10 and then grabbed Jordan or Ansah, fine.

    Jack Daniels

  • Ducks, prob is we need to pay him. Dude would be fantastic role player, but like you ssid, we cant psy him.

I wish we could trade down....

Trading down would be perfect, especially if their top targets (Jones, Milliner, maybe Werner, etc) are off the board.

Im not sure there will be players worth trading up for though. What do you think? Im just starting to go tnroigh players and follow along this year

So sorry, you will not be happy. Based on Mayhews god awful history. He has been given a free pass by most lions fans because of the smoke and mirrors season 2 years ago. His insistence on "best player available" has been an epic fail thus far.

I do agree about bush being a nice compliment though, for the right price obviously. Had he still been returning punts too? Something that would be a huge bonus also!

I only see a trade down happening if one of the teams directly behind us really really loves themselves some Geno Smith. Or- some other QB that they are scared could be taken before their pick.

Cleveland, Arizona, Buffalo & NY Jets pick in that order right behind us. They all could use a QB. Lets say: The Bills really like G.Smith...and they don't want the Browns or the Cardinals to take him before they are able to pick. There's where we could get our trade down. I don't see it happening any other way. Never know tho- I guess. The same scenario could play out with the CMU OT- Fisher.

  • The drafting has been awful. Are they going to ride this theory until they get fired? How ling do they get? This has to be tbe last draft.

    I would go
    1. Defense....end....corner....or whatever, jjst defense
    2. Oline
    3. Defense
    4.defense
    5.defense
    6.defense
    7.defense

    2014

    1. Defense
    2.defense
    3defense...................

The offense would be fine to handle their business over tbe next two years by adding nothing. Im not saying tbe offense is perfect. But wtf are they doing. Watch tbem take oline first (which is ok). Then a receiver second again. Third a full back. 4th a small college corner. 5th a linebacker ...........

Because they were best players available......eff me

I wish there was an infinite up vote option, would use it for this post. I look forward to the days of people in the organization being held accountable aka when Sr isn't running the show anymore.

Dude, cant you just feel that happening though?!

  • Somewhere in (insert either city whose team made it to the Super Bowl), there is an infant only 2-3 months old, that has experienced more playoff success with their team than I have with the lions in 37+ years.....smdh

Everything I've read- he's all but guaranteed to go in the Top 10. Possibly even top 5.

I'm not a Lions fan, so I don't know what Detroit's team needs are, but I am a draft junkie.. IMO, Moore is the best DE in the draft. Followed by Ezekiel Ansah and then Werner. Dion Jordan has high potential, but I wouldn't touch him until middle to late first round due to his technique not being as good as it can be, he also needs up bulk up more. Exceptional athlete for his size though.

  • In absolute agreement that the best player available theory is stupid at best. Needs are needs for a reason. They have passed on some good players at positions they needed help at in almost every draft now.
