Levenberry down to FSU and Michigan?

  • UMFB said...

I can't call this one with any amount of certainty. You guys think him announcing much earlier helps our chances?

Yes because we're the most recent visit. Had hr waited until August than no, but announcing this soon I think it helps. I still don't know who he picks though.

My guess would be Michigan, if not we already have a really good LB haul.

I hope you get him. Makes chances of recruiting Jaylon Smith less likely. Don't like Shane Morris spending so much time with him.

  • Anyone know why Levenberry was the #2 ILB and #21 in 247 in Feb then in April is #12 ILB? What changed?

    Scooter305

  • My guess is Michigan. Technically, only 2 spots open right now, he has to secure one of them.

That question was asked a few times in the update thread. 247 staff never gave anything specific at all, though. At least from what I saw.

I would think that too, but the Elmer announcement keeps popping up in my head. He had just visited Michigan, but announced for Notre Dame. His rationale was something about how he liked Michigan, but his last visit made him realize he just didn't like it as much as Notre Dame. Could be a case where EJ realized if an awesome Michigan visit couldn't make him forget about FSU, then that was where he should go?

Or could be the overall atmosphere and academics at Michigan impressed his mom so much that they want him in Ann Arbor?

Really can't form an opinion on this one, it could be either.

  • Moving up the date could be because of how large our class is. I know FSU has two LBs committed as well, but we do have over double their amount in overall commits. Maybe it's a slight factor, probably not.

  • I say he goes to FSU, happy with our LB class this year and last.

Yeah. Same here, it seems like his dad wants him to go to FSU too.

  • Random, supposed Bama fan on MgoBlog who has posted a lot of info that hasn't really come true, but writes in a way that makes him seem credible, is saying he's hearing Michigan is the safe bet... And It also means it's time for me to go to sleep if I am reaching that far to try to figure out what will happen.

  • Why he'll pick M:

We were his last visit and it was 10/10.

Hoke is just like his dad.

We were holding a spot open, but Hutchins' renewed interest had him move up his timeline.

He got to meet the rest of the class at spring game and they have a level of character that he identifies with and that you cannot find at FSU.

He likes being a rock star.

He says he wants to recruit...that's something unique to the Michigan '13 class.

Why he might not: FSU groupies.

I like your thinking, but kids recruiting is not unique to this class. With social media it might be the most visible, but Drew Henson actively talked to top recruits in the country to try to bring the best with him. I think he had Marquise Walker, David Terrell, and Justin Fargas all join him, but am too lazy to look it up.

And during the Pryor saga, it was routine that Mike Brewster and his 'Brew Crew' of offensive linemen commits would txt Pryor constantly and even road tripped out to see a playoff hoops game and show their support. Though looking back they probably were just going so Ted Sarniak could give them cash handshakes...

Thanks. Better than your last comment on my post. :-)

Its smart for a recruit, QB especially, to commit early. That's one thing that makes Shane special and smarter than others. And that's forced other QBs, like USC, to commit and recruit WRs, OLs, etc. too.

We didn't see that last year. Too many elite recruits are thinking about how special they are and their big signing day announcement. Remember the LSU, no ND, commit. What kind of leader will he be on the field?

    Team, team, team!

  • Good point Uncle Newt, I don't see anyone in our class decommitting, Shane and Dymonte were awesome commits last year, they've gotten us a ton of talent.

I haven't even heard Michigan being seriously involved with Smith.

Other than Mike Ferrell, I haven't seen one comment from the Levenberry camp or an analyst interview that suggests FSU could lead. 247 said "he had a blast" during his Spring break. WTF is that.

  • Would like to see this kid in the Jake Ryan role, but wouldnt be too mad if he went to FSU

would like to see the beat down Farrell would get if he went blue though

Neither have I, but Shane Morris and him seem to have a good friendship. They camped in MI a few weeks back and will both be in Pittsburgh this weekend. Still hearing we are leader.

I wouldn't worry to much about it. I think Shane makes friends with everyone.

You probably saw it, but Shane tweets after the Adidas camp something like, 'I know there is no chance you end up at Michigan, but good luck bro wherever you go!' I think Smith closed the door on any chance for Michigan awhile ago.
