Lawrence Marshall to tOSU

Fair enough woodson. Question, did Ferns have an OSU offer? I ask because I really don't remember.

I'm not interested in Ohio players Michigan takes that OSU doesn't even offer. I'd like to measure the success rate of when they both offer and go up against each other.

    ya he had an offer.

It's funny, when he eliminated OSU all the OSU fans were doing what we are doing now.

Going to have to humbly disagree. Taco didn't even start on his team until his senior year. Mark Porter, who is THE high school expert in Ohio, said he passed the look test, but just doesn't play like it.

All the proof I need is this - Meyer didn't even offer Taco, and he was in Ohio. If Taco was that good, he would have gotten an OSU offer. I guess time will tell. I guess it can be argued who is a better talent evaluator, but it will be settled on the field.

If fact, there was only one player Michigan took from Ohio last here that OSU even offered, and Dymonte was already committed before Meyer got there. We definitely wanted him, but happy we ended up with Vonn Bell instead.

I'm a Buckeye fan and even though we were undefeated, I don't think we were that good last year. Had your QB not been injured, you probably would have beaten us.

Oh mai gawhd, the trolls. As if your "Urban the Conqueror" is the end all be all of talent evaluation. Taco tweeted earlier in the year that he had been offered by Alabama. So, he's good enough to play for the National Champions, but not talented enough to play for Urban the Great?

    Yes, he did.

In any case, I don't care who offers the kids Michigan gets. I care that the kids are talented and not knuckleheads.

You would think that after the past two classes our staff has signed that there would be a little more faith in what they're doing.

Every recruiting class is as important as the next. Marshall was a top target at the position, seeing how he's a good talent, in-state, and he had a very early offer from our staff. So by putting faith in what they're doing, they're probably more disappointed than anyone on here. It's obvious they wanted him and will continue to pursue him hard. If our coaches evaluated him and didn't offer or had guys higher up the list, that's a different story. But that is not the situation at hand.

Pretty much the only post in this thread worth paying attention to. You people are reacting like we just lost out on Lawrence Taylor. You would think that after the past two classes our staff has signed that there would be a little more faith in what they're doing. If you're this stressed out about losing Lawrence Marshall less than a week after signing day you should probably take a break from following recruiting because you probably aren't going to make it until signing day 2014.

For me it's not so much "Lawrence Marshall". It's Urban coming into our state and the city we have dominated recruiting forever and taking who ever he wants in 2014. That is terrible news any way you spin it.

Did you watch him play this year? Yeah.....

Also.. FYI Thomas, Smith, McCray, and Gedeon all had Ohio offers.

Ferns absolutely had an Ohio offer. In fact, Urban took 2 assistant coaches to see him in the state title game because he still wants to flip him. They are VERY interested in Ferns and Michigan won that one.

Didn't this kid say USC was his dream school? Not like we lost a Michigan kid who grew up loving Michigan. I understand that we don't want Meyer poaching talent from Michigan but I think people have to take a step back a realize losing this particular kid isn't as terrible as some posters are making it out to be. With a recruiter as talented as Urban is you have to pick your battles and I don't think we're going to lose the war based on Marshall going to Ohio.

Yes, he did have an OSU offer. In fact he tweeted a picture of 30 letters from Urban weeks months after he committed. He has ignored them. Ferns was a BIG get. Webb was a BIG one for OSU. Marshall is a guy that is either way and is only big because he is from Michigan.

True. We had significant melt downs on signing day over a frickin punter. Our punter flipped to FL, and now we don't have a punter on the roster.

Look, I (and many OSU fans) want Michigan to do well. It's better for the rivalry and better for the conference. Michigan has just landed a top 5 class including a 5 star QB. Looking forward to "The Game" next year.

I was under the impression that marshall grew up a michigan fan. Coombs is the one we have to worry about. I think he is far and away Urbans best recruiter. Coach Jackson has owned Detroit for the past 15 years, he has bet his match in Coombs. Once again its not marshall im worried about it's the kids picking OSU a year away from signing day that are in our backyard.

If we can get mallik and harris all will be good but that will be very difficult. it wouldn't be out of the question and very reasonable for the top four players from the state to not go to michigan. With this staff and the way they have talked about keeping in state talent and owning the midwest. it would be a huge blow and completely unacceptable.

  • I sincerely hope the coaches can get McDowell. He is the single most important recruit in 2014. Don't like the fact that he is visiting Columbus soon.

He was not at that game watching Ferns and is no longer recruiting him....they will take 3 or 4 LBs in this class (Booker, Berger, Garrett and McMillian)

Yes he was. And he was still recruiting him until Ferns flat out told him to stop.

    Good try though.

Come on Clarkw, do not let the facts matter.LOL OSU fans saying they are not recruiting and were not recruiting Ferns is like us saying we are still not recruiting Webb. It's BS.
