Lawrence Marshall: "I have decommitted from Ohio State"

  • Frankly, the Michigan fans on this board were kind of upset about the Marshall commitment. Check it out. The thread was locked because of all the trolling though.

    Not at all by us reasonable Buckeye fans. I actually respect the kid for de-committing so early if he was not 100% sold. The de-commits I can't stand are the ones that happen on NSD that leave teams high and dry. A good example was last year. We had Alex Anzalone and Lewis Neal as LB commits, but both de-committed and we ended up with Mike Mitchell and Trey Johnson, which every recruiting site says is an upgrade. That's the power and drawl universities like OSU and Michigan have. I pretty much take every commitment out of state with a grain a of salt at this point. Love Marshall's game and hope he becomes a Buckeye, but if he doesn't I will still respect him because he has given OSU PLENTY of time to find a quality replacement.

    Exactly what I was thinking. I remember a mini meltdown on here with a few people trying to find a silver lining by suggesting it wasn't the end of the world, which was true.

There is a LONG way to go before 2014 NSD and just like OSU will get their fair share of talent so will Michigan! For the most part on Bucknuts we saw this coming so it really wasn't a shock and it comes with the territory when recruiting in your rivals backyard so to speak! I'm 100% Buckeye and i have a brain that works properly so i was NEVER counting on Marshall or McDowell to come to OSU and I'm still worried if we can keep Webb but in the end i think we keep Webb and have a CHANCE to land Harris. The reason i think we can land Harris is we have a big time need at his position and Urban's track record of getting a highly ranked guy at a position of dyer need is really good! Lets all just be glad that our teams are the CLASS of the B1G and the championship will go through our 2 states for the next decade!

  • This has nothing to do with either school. This is a story about a youngster who got caught up in the moment and was over emotional. After thinking about it for a few days realized that he had made a mistake to commit. I don't blame him. I think its embarassing for him. But ultimately he has to make a decision that makes him happy. In fact, any adult that trashes a young man for doing what is right for him, is wrong on every level.

    This is the be all end all argument against those who want an early signing period in football recruiting.

    It didn't help everyone was still pissed off from the Wisconsin OT game. I saw the Marshall commitment and shut down chrome...

We were saying that losing a mid/low 4* rated in state kid was not the end of the world and wouldn't hurt Michigan all that bad because we figured we could land an equally good recruit. Marshall is a good player that any team should be happy to land but I don't view him as a 5* must get from your own state type of player.

    The kid said everybody, family and coaches, were surprised when he committed. Kind of obvious it wasnt too well thought out. It happens. As long as they dont bail last second im fine with stuff like this. Good luck to him

    If that's the case, then the entirety of Bucknuts is guilty of saying they didn't want Marshall.

    I can't count how many times I've heard "Doesn't matter, Urbz gets elite recruits" in the last 24 hours.
