Laser Rocket or Bellomy in 2013?

  • I wish Morris could come in early.

  • I think DG’s going to end up winning the job. Shane can’t EE, and is still raw, and Bellomy arm is just too weak to ever be a successful College QB. I might be overeating but it seems even weaker then Kellen Moore’s or Danny Wuerffel’s.

TBH I’m kind of hoping for a transfer, even if it’s just for one year. Someone like Jacoby Brisset would have to wait a year, but Drew Allen at OU, or Bryan Benet at UO, could come in and play right away.

  • shane morris just won the job by default

  • If I'm one of the Michigan coaches, I would give Morris next year's playbook (assuming this is not against NCAA rules) and tell him to get started immediately.

For a QB to make the jump from HS football to college football, the QB must be mentally prepared and capable of making the correct read.

  • If Bellomy does not improve by leaps and bounds by 8/31/2013, then Danny Hope will get the last laugh.

Would that mean that he "snakeoiled" us?

I think Shane would be a legit option, but only if the offensive line can protect him. He can make all the throws, but can he run the offense if hes not getting help on the line especially since it will take him a little longer to process everything as a true freshman.

  • Shane needs work too
I knew Bellomy wouldnt cut it, funny thing guys that were singing his praises have a different tone now.
Gardner is a much better passer, and he's not doing much as a receiver, I say switch him back now

    More that Miller?

Further proof that a Michigan loss is better than a tOSU win for buckeye fans.

    panic

He had a bad game. What has Gardner done to show is a much better passer?

It's still going to be an open competition for the QB gig next year.

  • I havnt said much on this topic but I'm done biting my tongue. From day one I always thought, even when he first committed Bellomy would be nothing more then a back up. Personally I think it's Shane's job to loose next year unless Gardner shows something. In my opinion I think Gardner can be a good QB but I think Shane comes in and takes the job just like henne did. Unfortunately Shane won't have near the talent that henne did.

Look ... I have watched Morris for 3 years, and he is a legit challenger next year. He has all the tools to excel now at the next level - strong arm, speed, etc. He lacks the college game plan experience. Outside of DG, both Shane and Bellomy are in the same boat. Shane has a much stronger arm than both of of them. However, Shane will only be as good as the receivers, which we lack at this time. We need some playmakers at receiver, and DG does not cut it IMO.

Shane will not start next year .... but ... give him till game 5 or so, and let the future begin. I said months ago, next year may be painful for us during the transition

gardner's arm is average, denard's arm is better. DG is first on the team in TD's and second in yards and catches, so he is doing something at wr

If Shane start, does that mean we can move Bellomy to WR also?

    DG's arm average?
I would expect Denard to be better with all the attention he has gotten
Give DG the same attention and rep's he'll be a better QB than Bellomy
The last few passes Ive seen thrown to DG must of hit him in a bad spot like the hands, because he has dropped more than he has caught

yes, average. his arm is not all that. no upgrade in passing if we put him in. we have a better chance of winning with DG at qb than bellomy, but DG's arm is nothing special.

  • I think it became apparent who our starting QB for next year should be....very impressive performance by Gardner today. I think his performance today also gives more stability for recruits like Treadwell who may have worried last week about the teams ability to get WR's the ball for next year. DG would give Shane an opportunity to red shirt.....win win win all the way around

Yup. I have always thought that...assuming of course he gets the extra year. I would be bummed if he didn't.

Today made me really really hope that Gardner gets his redshirt. Imagine what he could develop into with 2 years to work with.
