LaQuon Treadwell and our WR recruiting

    Don't do that.

I am feeling good today. There are 12 1/2 months till 2014 NSD .... Both D. Harris and D. Webb will have many schools trying to flip them. If the 2013 elites show any indication, odds are good one or both here end up elsewhere ..... just reading the tea leaves from 2013 and applying to 2014.

I don't know what's in the tea you're drinking, but give me some of that....

West Virginia had and has elite skill players, actually...how do you like them apples?

The roadmap to building a good team is now clear. Lineman first, run game next, basics, and then everything else afterwards.

Not to mention the fact that there's that old axiom - "The farther away you are from the ball on the LOS, the easier it is to play early."

Fact of the matter is, for extremely talented skill players/DBs, you can often come in and be incredibly successful as a true freshman. Not so for linemen on either side, LBs, TEs, QBs. We see this all the time with players like Amari Cooper, TJ Yeldon, Todd Gurley, Stefon Diggs and Keith Marshall.

I'd much rather build the foundations first and build out from there, because all of these teams with successful freshmen have built out from the inside. A successful team will have that older core and plug in the playmaking freshmen at the positions farthest from the ball on the LOS.

  • What the hell do we need WR's for when we're running the ball down people's throat. Nevada doesn't need WR's

Marshall is a great athlete, but a great WR he is not.

I think he'll have an impact returning, and running the ball early on, but he has a long way to go as far as his receiving skills.

Exactly. And he's only about 6'. He might be a very good slot receiver eventually, but he will never be an elite wideout which is what we need.

I think we have a good shot at Drake Harris from MI next year.

Also we are in good shape with Mark Andrews Trevion Thompson Shaq Davidson Josh Malone

and really good shape with Thaddeus Snobgrass Demarre Kitt

Those are all top 150 national type guys.

I'm more worried about OSUs ability to sign Olineman especially next year. If we dont get 3-4 really good ones next year we are going to have some major issues.

I agree with you Huburt that your biggest need is OL. I think in 2014 you will get them. I also think that we will do much better signing WR in 2014 and beyond. Once recruits see the new offense and Gallon putting up big numbers we will start seeing WR recruiting pick up.
