He can be hypocritical at times and be completely ignorant to it. But, taking our Blue sunglasses off, he has a point. I mean think about it: If this were last year, Michigan State would be walking into the Rose Bowl. They will be punished because they earned the right to play in the Big Ten Championship game. That doesn't seem right. But that is the BCS. We will benefit from it and that is great. If we were in their position, we would be livid. But we aren't, so good
An even better example, which he has mentioned, is the ridiculousness of the National Championship game. Alabama DOESN'T have to beat LSU.....AT HOME.....AT NIGHT......and they DON'T have to play an extra game and win an SEC championship to play in the National Title game. Now i believe that Bama and LSU are the two best teams in the country, but they had their shot at beating LSU with the best advantages they could have gotten (at home at night) and didn't win, and the logistics of Bama getting to the game are ridiculously backwards and make zero sense.

If MSU didn't play the title game they would be in the BCS and UM wouldn't. It's that simple. If the situation was reversed this board would be on fire right now. Essentially MSU is being punished by playing a 13th game against arguably the best team in the conference for a second time (a team UM didn't have to play once).
With that said I don't think that scenario is guarantee. MSU has a pretty decent lead in points in the BCS rankings and if MSU at least makes the game close my bet is the human polls won't punish us enough to drop us below 14. If MSU wins, UM is almost guaranteed a BCS spot so I'd be rehearsing the MSU fight song.

State is being punished. Cry me a river. The thing you are not understanding is that the CCG game only takes into account conference games which only makes up 2/3rds of the season. The BCS takes into account the whole season which means every single game including conference championship games are going to be counted in the BCS standings. Its the way it is. If MSU had taken care of business in the non conference game against Notre Dame they wouldn't be in this situation. -

I won't be crying until Sunday night (maybe). Frankly the Sugar Bowl means absolutely nothing to me. Right now there are two games that mean something and that is Rose and NCG. Everything else is just window dressing. As long as you aren't playing in the Pizza bowl, who really cares. HOWEVER it is still a lame system when playing in a conference championship game demotes you in the bowl picture. Don't worry your team will get bitten by this monkey someday and hopefully a playoff system will emerge when enough schools get tired of this system.
Yes beating ND or Nebraska would have taken care of this problem and so would beating Wisconsin on Sat. No matter what happens Sunday night will be an interesting one for UM.

Is it a messed up system? Yes. But it's the system that we deal with. Frankly, I'd rather be in msu's position than ours right now. I'd much rather have a chance to play one game for Roses than sit around and watch other teams determine our fate.
It will be nice if we can make it to the BCS, but I'll take a New Year's Day (Jan. 2) bowl against an SEC opponent (either Arkansas or Georgia) as well. It will still be a matchup of 2 Top 15 teams most likely, and more importantly, the bowl practices are uber important as Brady continues to build his team.
As far as msu goes, I saw on another board that the little brother term doesn't really apply, and they're more like Jan Brady. While this is probably even more disrespectful, it's kind of true. Despite the spartans incredible accomplishments (Kudos. Honestly, it's been a great run the last 2 years), they will never be on a level that Michigan is as far as national perception. Is it fair? No. But it's just the way it is.
Seriously, I think if msu was in the BCS top 10, they still might be passed over, which isn't fair either. They just don't have a big national following that will get butts in the stadium and eyes on the TV. The casual fan won't watch because there is nothing really exciting about msu. They don't have a Denard Robinson who everyone (even non-football fans) have heard of and will tune in to watch. They don't have a great name recognition.
It's kind of a benefit and a curse. Think about if the Rather Hall incident happened at Michigan...It would have been an ESPN top story. Since it was at msu, there wasn't a lot of publicity for it. In that way, it's kind of a benefit. But as I've said, on the flip side it hurts msu because they will always play 2nd fiddle to Michigan when someone is given a choice between the 2.

There's a debate about whether OU would drop behind you guys. You're right though, our game doesn't matter to you guys; you'll jump the winner.
Now, what you don't want to happen is Baylor win big and/or Clemson to beat Va Tech. They could jump ahead of you guys in the pecking order.
I'd also expect you guys to watch the CCG because a) It's the Big 10, and b) It's probably going to be the most competitive one out of the 4.
