Kyle Dodson

  • I'm a huge fan of Kyle Dodson.

I was very disappointed when I learned that Dodson picked Wisconsin over Michigan (immediately after *finally* getting the Ohio State offer he initially wanted).

I think Dodson is a future Sunday player...and an elite program can never have too many of those.

Yeah because OSU was recruiting LTT so hard. Michigan was on him the whole time then OSU offered him out of no wheres. You don't even know who LTT is

Quite honestly (and I know everyone here will disagree). We have been behind the eight ball so to speak in terms of recruiting. Not only due to the coach/NCAA situation, but in regards to the O line. Jim B was not a good recruiter. This year, or any other. So it comes as no surprise to me that we are "on the heels" of pretty much everyone. We have catching up to do. Thats why the NCAA is letting us have all these extra coaches. (that was a joke but Im sure rioting will ensue, thats a whole other topic).

With that said about Jim B. that leads into answering how many O line do we need. Honestly Im of the opinion as many as possible, our line was atrocious.

To say that Urban is only offering who Hoke offers, to me is a bit much. However in the business of recruiting you not only want to land good commits, but you want to keep weapons out of the hand of the enemy. So Im sure this practice goes on to an extent with all schools. To say that is ALL Urban is doing, is unrealistic and a bit of homerism IMO.

actually go check the SEC boards they said the same things about Urban when it comes to recruiting. He constantly wouldn't offer kids till Bama/LSU/FSU/Georgia would offer kids then he would come in the back door and get the job done. I dont have nothing against it to be honest I mean it did produce great results for him down at UF.

However, I would not be surprised for the first couple years to see him do these types of things.

  • Urban gets a lot of the recruits he targets, no question. But the 'following other coaches recruiting' has been a long standing meme of Urban's...it is not new to his gig at Ohio State.

If he was all Buckeye he would have committed when he visited. They had a great chance last weekend but him visiting OSU first may not bode well for them because the memory of that visit will fade after trips to Auburn and Michigan

I think he likely ends up with OSU, but considering he is visiting us next month, saying he is 'all buckeye' is a bit of a stretch.

  • If he's "all Buckeye", why is he committed to Wisconsin and taking additional visits after taking an official to Urbanville last week?

  • KD and Diamond were both at Auburn today. Playing rock paper scissors over who will play RT for OSU and who will play LT.

Where did it sour for Dodson and Wisconsin?

Probably one of the following things soured it:

    - They are seriously considering Dayne Crist as their QB for next year because the talent on the roster is that bad, so the future is not bright.
    - They rarely play young lineman, usually waiting until they have a couple years of S&C before seeing game time
    - Michigan and OSU both have limited depth on the OL and are trending in a much better direction than Wiscy for the future
    - He got sick of Bielema saying "On Wisconsin" at the end of every phone call he had with him
    - He realized it's Wisconsin and he'll be there for 4-5 winters.

I think you get Dodson, but I think most OSU fans haven't paid attention to the Diamond recruitment long enough. Most Buckeye fans I have seen are saying he's a lock since his official and the statements he made about it being "the time of a lifetime." Well, that's Diamond for you, he says that about every visit he takes. He tweeted after multiple unofficials to Michigan that he was debating ending it. He, and his mom, raved about how amazing Arkansas was on their trip down there (unofficial) in the summer. He talked about how excited he was to head up to Wisconsin for a vacation and see the Badgers and what a great program they are.

And just recently, one site has him "confirmed" that Michigan gets the last visit in January, and 247 has it "confirmed" that he's visiting on the 13th. So he definitely likes to talk, but fans really can't take too much of it seriously. He's taking all his visits and having some sort of multimedia company (Entertainment 720?) do a special event for his announcement on Signing Day. He's not a lock anywhere at this point.. could be OSU, could be Arkansas, could be Auburn, could be Wiscy.. and heck, could be Michigan even though most of our fans have written him off already.

and if I can expound...his mom made the comments to the idea that Michigan had fallen out because of the OL haul already. Sounds like they are looking for early PT and may be not willing to compete for it...Christian Bryant is a good friend at Michigan who didn't play his freshman year...big plans for him

  • Dodson will come down to OSU and Wisky.

Diamond will come down to OSU and Auburn.

O'Conner and Davidson seem like strong options if anything waivers from above.

I like Kozan, but way too few OT's in Cbus.

    Wrong wrong wrong

Diamond just did an interview where he used WE when speaking about tOSU and its pickup of Spence.

Oh and btw, Auburn was his second visit so he can't visit them last.

Dodson's grandmother wants him at tOSU where she likes the coaches and is able to watch him play. His grandmother raised him fyi.

Both are rumored to verbal to Meyer but want to announce at a later date and take their visits. Multiple kids taking officials that stated have confirmed the fact that they were all committing and talking about playing for S&G next year.

Kozan had his chance, he begged for a tOSU offer got it, then didn't commit. Meyer took over and has said no thanks.

The other OT that tOSU is looking at is Davidson a son of a former Buckeye who visits in Jan.

If Diamond has given his verbal pledge to Meyer, why the heck would he visit Wisconsin and Michigan in January? He's been to both of those schools multiple times already, and the weather isn't exactly nice in January. Why would he waste two official visits on schools he has already seen? Why not visit USC or Florida or one of the many other schools he has offers from and get a nice experience out of it, if he has no interest in Wiscy or Michigan?
