I posted this on the Bama board, but thought I'd bring it over here as well, since you guys are the ones deserving of the respect. So here goes:
I think it often goes overlooked when teams sack up and schedule a top flight out of conference opponent. The SEC teams have been doing this for a while, but for Michigan to schedule a team as dominant as Alabama has been the last few years, deserves a TON of credit. Why?
Look at their biggest competition in their conference: Wisconsin
Wisky's OOC schedule looks like this: Northern Iowa, Utah State, Oregon St, UTEP. Pitiful.
Meanwhile, UM goes out and schedules Bama on TOP of scheduling ND every year. They also have Air Force on their schedule, who's never easy to prepare for.
UM's SOS is going to be in the top 10, while Wisconsin's will be in the 70s. And of course, those who make the rankings NEVER look at the schedule, only the record. So kudos to you, Michigan. Your good deed will certainly not go unpunished, but college football is better for it.

We were all pretty bummed when we saw that it wasn't a home and home. You guys are known to travel REALLY well. Your fan base reminds me of the Oklahoma fans who traveled by the thousands to Tuscaloosa a few years back.
And yeah, Wisky does that with their OOC schedule, and it's why they're ALWAYS overrated. And they end up doing something stupid like giving up 45 to Oregon or losing to TCU...ever...

I would have paid so much money to go to a game in Tuscaloosa.
I've really wanted the Big Ten to set up an agreement with a conference like the SEC or Pac12 for a while, similar to the ACC-B1G challenge in basketball. It would be a week where every Big Ten team plays an SEC team - it'd be awesome and really help the level of competition in OOC games. I was so excited when they announced the Pac12-B1G showdown, but then it disappeared. Hopefully they come up with something else.

Personally would love to have a home and home with UM. We recently declined a home and home with Wisky. Their fans were pretty upset but there is really no point for us to have a home and home with them. That would be like yall having a home and home with South Carolina. Just isnt that appealing and not full of tradition and blue bloods. I really would like to play ND a few times too. Beat the crap out of them and show everyone that they are still irrelavent and will not be any type of title contender. They have sucked the past 10 years for the most part and for some reason people still think they are NC material.

Yea home and home would've been sick. I'd love to travel town to T-Town for a game, but the prospect of the "pro" atmosphere in Dallas plus ridiculous prices on tickets/hotels made me not go to Dallas.
In Wisky's defense, that was a very good TCU team and they were outclassed by Oregon - just the way the Rose Bowl is sometimes.

I'd love a home/home with with you guys. I was in Tuscaloosa this summer, and I'd love to go back for a game. I talked briefly with Saban outside of Bryant-Denny, but he didn't have much to say. In hindsight, it may have been a statue. Either that, or he's 10' tall and a man of no words.
