One of your commits, that is currently "looking" around (Not Dawson) has said that he doesn't talk to Michigan much since he committed....
My question is, do you think that is hurting you at all? If your coaches aren't staying in touch w/ these kids while other schools are still burning up the lines of communication, that could be why you have a couple commits not opposed to seeing other schools...
There again, this is ONE recruit that has said he doesn't talk much to UM coaches anymore...not saying it is how all the recruits are handled...

Well, which commit are you referring to? Our Long Snapper?
Look, I know it thrills you to know that one of Michigan's recruits was told that is scholarship was no longer available (Dawson...and that's a fact how it went down, he didn't "decommit"), and I know you love the fact that Michigan has another recruit that would like to take visits (which bascially means once he takes that visit, he's no longer a recruit), but seriously, why would you come over to ask a question that 1) you won't take any answer seriously 2) do you reaaaallly believe that your fans, our fans, etc know more about what is going on than what the actual staffs do?
I WILL put money on it that the coaching staff is staying in touch with those that need to be kept in touch with. In other words, the coaching staff knows what's going on and that's all thats important. Quite honestly, if a recruit has his feelings hurt because the coaches aren't kissing his butt with texts and calls everyday, and wants to decommit / visit other schools for that reason....well....I'm glad if his spot gets filled by another player that wants to EARN his respect at Michigan.
Take our first commit of 2014 for example. This kid is a leader. Ferns has come out and said that he wanted to commit early to help build the Michigan 2014 class. The kid has shown more character during a football game this year than most of us show our whole lives. Do you think the staff feels they have to talk to this kid every week? I can assure you, they don't. I'll take this type of player all day long as opposed to one that looks as themselves as the "recruiting class prize", one that has to wait until signing day to have a full gym at their high school for an announcement with hats laid out on the table. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it. I'm just saying, Ferns could have done this...he could have waited it out to get offers from all over the country. Instead, he wanted to be a leader of the class....and what some might call....a "Michigan Man".

Actually, No.....It is McCray, LB recruit...didn't say he wasn't committed, just said he doesn't hear from coaches very much....
I don't care about your recruits...I have been steadfast in my opinion that I want the rivalry to be heated again, with both tOSU and UM playing great ball...I have no desire to see UM at the bottom of the league, it does tOSU and the BIG no good...
That said, I merely asked due to a possibility of 3 commits not honoring their commit....Dawson, Conley and McCray...So i wondered whether your staff calms down on the contact once they are committed...It's a tough thing to believe these kids nowadays with all the other "shiny" options continuously thrown at them...
And on Ferns, that is a great get....those kind of recruits are few and far between....
I don't know how much Urban talks to current commits...I do know that our recruiting coordinator is in constant contact with them and tries to have that group together as much as possible to form those bonds

This is the kind of stuff we get "fed" to us....First, I know how writers work, they are homers to the Nth degree....but this was today's article on Conley...
Gareon Conley (6-2, 165, WR/CB, 2013, Massillon, OH, Washington HS) Another rumored offer is to Massillon Washington wide receiver/corner back playmaker Gareon Conley. It has not been confirmed whether or not an official offer has been made but one thing that seems to be confirmed is that Mike Vrabel has been talking to this Massillon Washington prospect. It appears that Conley is uncertain whether or not Michigan is the best place for him and is open to consider the Buckeyes as well as Oregon. The Oregon possibility is what probably planted seeds of doubt in Conley but a call from former NFL star and Super Bowl winner also does not hurt but it appears that Conley is not a done deal to the Maize and Blue. Bill Greene of Scout.com reports that Conley will indeed visit Oregon and Ohio State meaning that his Michigan days are over if true.

Here's what I've heard: Conley has gotten a committable offer from Ohio State. However, much like McCray, he's insulted that the offer took so long. If he decides to take any visits, he'll go all out and visit OSU and Oregon, but if he chooses to take visits and decommits, he'll be heading to Oregon. While there's some question of whether he'll stay with Michigan, he has yet to take a visit anywhere else, so he's still on board with Michigan, and unlike Dawson, he hasn't been going behind the coaches' backs, so he isn't at risk of having his scholarship pulled like Dawson.

We offered Conley before he blew up, I don't think this has anything to with michigan failing in his recruitment whatsoever. We found an underrated talent, now that he's getting a ton of recognition, other schools offer, and we kind of get screwed in the end. From the Michigan side, you wish these kids would have respect for the school that showed faith in you before anybody else. Sadly, recruiting doesn't work that way.

This is why College Football needs an early signing period like Basketball has....
If a kid wants to commit early, then sign on the line....no more verbal commitments...either sign in August or wait til February....that way a coach can know exactly what he can count on with the early commits....

My only disagreement here would be that they should change the official visit rules to go along with this. If a kid truly wants to make a decision before their senior year, let them use some official visits before that point, decide, and sign (like Michael Ferns).
Or allow them to make 2 officials to the same school. For kids like Hurts, Poggi, Kugler, etc, it would be really nice if they could take 2 officials to Michigan since they are committed and help offset the distance factor.

Just a question about your commits....
