Apparently, if true, the details will be in print next week. I think the Chicago Tribune.

  • Not shocking!!! Scam Newton got way more though haha. Hopefully NCAA hits them pretty hard and it helps lure green away from them and pushes him to BLUE!!!!

  • If this is true Michigan dodged another bullet.

  • If Auburn blows up, Michigan should go after Tashawn Bower.

UM may want to wait to see who is clean and clear. And by no means am I saying Bower has done anything wrong. But it is better to be safe then sorry.

A bomb if true, I'll believe it when I see it though.

Would be absurd if that is the reason didn't end up in the Maize n' Blue, and really shows his true character.

Michigan might have dodged a huge bullet as someone said above.

Not really dodging a bullet if you don't participate in it right?

More like potentially seeing an invitation to a gunfight in 3 weeks and opting to stay home that night, right?

    (caveat: "if true" etc etc)

Precisely, which is why I never understand the Michigan "dodged a bullet with Terrelle Pryor" commentary (strictly referencing the tattoo parlor/equipment for money fiasco).

  • Just a few comments I want to make on this.

First of all, I got to know Jordan very well during the recruiting process, and my impression was that Michigan was probably fourth on his list behind Wisconsin and Arkansas, so I never got the feeling that he was headed to Ann Arbor.

Second, just to give an example of his true character, he was constantly putting updates on Facebook about teammates and friends who college coaches should look at. I've talked to hundreds of recruits, and haven't come across anyone else that tried to help their friends and teammates get exposure nearly as much as Jordan did.

Lastly, this is all pure speculation at this point.

    Thanks for some perspective, Todd.

Obviously, we can't say anything until details actually come out and we aren't just speculating. I think this would be very, very interesting though, especially coming on the heels of the Cam Newton questions and Reuben Foster's commitment fiasco.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't think many players have been paid to play college football. I just think it's interesting, since we haven't had a good old explicit pay-for-play scandal in a little while.

I was speaking more about his character.

However by not going to the gunfight isn't that dodging a bullet as well? By staying home a bullet did not hit us.

And I am just talking hypothetically, not about the situation.

As for Diamond and Auburn, I'll believe it when I see some proof.

  • lol at Michigan fans spreading this rumors, because they are butthurt about Jordan Diamond not going to their school. By the way, I have heard Michigan football recently started shelling the same amount of cash their basketball program gave to the Fab 5. Any truth to those rumors?

Yeah, the Chicago Tribune was also supposed to have a story about the basketball player at Kentucky getting paid. However the story never materialized. The FBI was supposed to have secret tapes of Cam Newton getting paid. That story never materialized either. I will believe the Jordan Diamond story when I see it

Did Michigan football players take the money anyway, saying "the money was too much" to resist?

im not always the biggest fan of yours todd but its that type of perspective and levelheadedness that i appreciate about you the most. thanks for setting us straight, because my thinking was immediately "man i hope the ncaa finally hammers a SEC team for this" but it could be nothing, and we have to think about the kid involved as well. speculation can be dangerous

It still could have been a Michigan fan, or was it someone else? The rumor another Michigan fan posted on the main 247 was that Jordan Diamond admitted this himself. This would be borderline retarded since it would kill his college career and his chances of playing in the NFL. From everything I have heard, people at Auburn still expect him to be a stud. In fact, some people think he was on track to start or at least get a lot of playing time as a true freshman, but he got injured at the end of preseason practice and that injury knocked him out for the season

The quote you posted was nothing more than hearsay from an anonymous source. There has never been one ounce of actual evidence that Cam Newton actually made that statement.

To be honest with you, I don't know and don't really care. Good luck to the kid, he'll be a good one.

It didnt kill Cam Newtons chances making the NFL, he was the #1 draft pick.
